The Steam page says this game is controller compatible, but I can't get it to read it. I checked the options and it only says "Map", which is only a guide. It's a Logitech dual action controller.
Thanks.

I plugged in my 360 pad and it worked without mapping anything.
What kind of controller do you want to use?

A Logitech Duel Action controller. I checked to make sure it works and the controller works fine with Test Drive Ultimate 2 and Need For Speed Shift and I have no issue using it with those games.

Ok, well, I don't know this controller and as it works with other games, I assume it's due to BTR.
But: your drivers are up to date? Or do you have any other devices plugged in that may interfere? Besides keyboard and mouse, you know. :D
In this thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1807451) others have the same problem with logitech controllers...

Using a program to let the computer think you're playing with a 360 controller might be your best bet. While written for the PS3 controllers specifically, I believe the MotionInJoy third-party drivers now allow just about any kind of controller to be remapped. When run with the 360 controller emulation enabled, it works just fine with Bit.Trip Runner.

i hate to use xpadder or logitech profiler im trying to use the x360ce vibmod that emulates your controller as a xbox 360 controller. that way you dont have to have any extra program running and it works for all monopoly xbox controller supported games.
Except i cant get it to work for bit trip runner X_X

I use XPadder to use my Logitech. Developers only use XInput so yea.. No Logitech support. So you either use XPadder or x360ce.

I just use an old (free) version of JoyToKey (3.7.4). It's the easiest thing ever to set up, and I use it for about 6 different games. It obviously has to remain running but it uses <2 megabytes of memory in Task Manager.

I have a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 and had the same annoying problem. I solved it by using Logitech Profiler.
I created a new Gameprofile for
\Steam\steamapps\common\bit.trip runner\runner.exe
in Logitech Profiler and set the keybinds to the controller buttons as it was shown in "Controller Map" in the game.
There is a Export function for gameprofiles in Logitech Profiler, so I did that now. I don't know how good the import function works, but here is the exported settings if you want to try to import the settings instead of setting it up yourself. :)
http://uploading.com/files/6aee2a75/Bit.Trip%2BRunner.xml/
The keybinds:
Left -- NUM 4
Right -- NUM 6
Up -- NUM 8
Down -- NUM 2
Button 1 -- K
Button 2 -- SPACE
Button 3 -- D
Button 4 -- W
Button 5 -- ESC

I used x360ce and my controller still wasn't recognised. Works well in other games, however. :(

Sorry about bumping this thread.
I got the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823109243). I don't have its software installed, but the controller works fine with many games such as SSF4:AE, Sonic Generations, and etc. Yet it doesn't work in BIT.TRIP.RUNNER...
My question is, in order to get my controller to work in this game, must I install the software of the controller? Thanks.

- Edit -
Nevermind, it works fine now without having the controller software installed.
