I think you can eliminate the long dx9 load times by turning off vsync. Odd I know.

What Video card do you have?
The DX11 crash could be that the card vaultage is to low. I had the same problem with any DX11 game, it would crash everytime. I got afterburner from MSI and upped the vaultage a little and not a single crash now.

Have you updated your video drivers?
Updated your DirectX?
Made sure your video card/CPU isn't overheating?
Verify integrity of game cache?
Downloaded the latest CAP?

Try all those steps, as well as the fix Phreeflo mentionned, and report back to tell us if it fixed it :)

It is the same scenario like with F1 2010, Dirt3 etc.
For some reason engine keeps crashing until DX9 is forced on some Rigs.
It is not because of old drivers, or overclocking, bad voltages, messed OS, or corrupt instalation. It happens to several people, with unknown reason. Crashes can be reduced by disabling Steam overlay, but time to time game freeze and you can only shut down process from task manager.
I have tried several driver versions for my GTX560Ti (some ATI users have this issue as well) I've tried update Rapture3D or use Software audio mode, GFWL and all C++ redist are all right. No other games (DX11 included) crashed or something so far. No errors under event viewer except F12010 after crash. PC is not overclocked and temperatures are very low (CPU 55, GPU 60-62 during load)
Who knows what causing this problem. It can be logitech G19 applet, or Audigy 4 drivers and those who have lockups with DX11 could have something common toether. Who knows.... But it is certinly problem with game engine and compatibility with "something"

I have tried several driver versions for my GTX560Ti

For what it's worth I'm using the latest drivers for my 560ti twin frozr and the game hasn't crashed (yet).

Running directx 11 everything maxed out except AA.

I hope you guys find a solution for your problems.

yea tried all that stuff and still crashes. my card doesnt seem to like to be overclocked as it crashs or shuts down (dont know the technical term) if i clock it very much past default. o well i will just deal with the long loads

Did you disable Vsync? That solved my problem.

Here is my fix all. I had similar issues with BF2 on steam. I fixed this F1 2011 issue in the same way. Locate your main Steam F1 directory. Find the F1 exe file. Right click and Send to Desktop (make shortcut). When you want to play the game run it from the desktop by double clicking the shortcut and DO NOT run from the steam games screen.
If you do this you will not receive random crashes to desktop or lock ups on loading screens while using DX11.

Hope this helps you all out

Didn't work still get random game freezes during loading screens (have to exit with task manager). Sometimes before and sometimes after race/practice/qualifying loading screens.

*Had the same exact problem with F1 2010. Oh and DIRT3 as well. Only fix was to revert to DX9(only tried that with dirt 3). I don't want to resort to that option. Anybody with similar problem who has a solution would be much appreciated. The directory shortcut solution did not really help.

Do you have v-sync switched off? Are you using DX11 or DX9?

I only seem to have this problem in DX11 and yes I have V-SYNC OFF. I reverted back to DX9 and the problem went away. The game stopped freezing during loading screens.

*On another note I like to see how many people who are having this problem have windows Vista as well. Maybe the developers of the game only tested DX11 performance on windows 7 systems. That would make sense that their not aware of the problem. Or maybe they are. Either way I have a DX11 GPU with a vista system that only likes to run in DX9 for all most recent Codemaster games which started using DX11.

**I know Vista supports DX11 but it originally only supported DX9 and DX10 natively. Maybe the game is coded wrong or something since I can play Crysis 2 in DX11 and DUES EX in DX11 without any problems. Anyways was trying to think outside the box.

***I also noticed that nvidia has been kinda lazy on releasing drivers specifically for new games in order to ensure they run optimally. They only care about AAA titles and 3D support or SLI profiles that's it. This could be a problem as well.

You never used an ATI card obviously. It's like ATI releases drivers only once a year or something.

I have Windows 7, with NVidia GTX 580 graphics card, and it has constantly been freezing when on the loading screen, then just crashes. I'm also running it in DX11. I haven't had any such problems with any other games (I also play Crysis 2 in DX11, with no problems), and never had any crashes as such with F1 2010. Have tried turning V-sync off, doesn't make any difference whatsoever.

I now basically have to pray every time I go to start a race and the loading screen comes up...

I have switched from Rapture3d to software in the audio settings and it seems to have fixed the loading freezes for me. I also disabled auto-save just in case. It seems to have worked. I have so far been able to play in DX11 without any freezes.

My solution:
-Disable V-SYNC
-Disable Auto-save
-SWITCH FROM RAPTURE 3D TO "SOFTWARE" in audio options

*The audio setting was actually causing and was what finally fixed the freezing for me (so far). Will post again if I run into to any issues still.

What absolute drivel.
You obviously havn't a clue about Ati driver releases, not only do they release a driver every month, they also often release 'profiles' for specific games which are tailor made to to get the best out of certain games if 'Joe public' is having problems with them(providing enough of Joe Public informs them of the problem that is)

Back to the original post-I wanted to let you know i had seen another post somewhere about Rapture 3D causing stuttering/freezes, and the solution was to download an updated driver version for the Rapture 3D-Just thought it may be a 'secondary' option if you did want to retry it.-Goodluck
