Recent guesstimates have placed Google’s server count at more than 1 million. But new data on Google’s energy use suggests that the company is probably running about 900,000 servers.

Google never discloses hard numbers, so the article doesn't go into specifics, but really why bother counting after the first 40,000 or so?

EDIT: Inb4WillItRunCrysis reply. :)

I believe it, between the search engine, maps, gmail, docs, you tube, etc. they have a lot of data to manage and a lot of users to serve in a timely manner.

I also believe that it's spread out in numerous datacenters all around the world.

No es posible! I find your assumptions highly improbable and mind-warping.

Got any more radical insights?
