I forget who figured this out (if it was you, go ahead and give yourself credit in this thread) but by turning the audio acceleration to "Software" in the options menu it eliminated the load screen crashing that I was having.
My game was basically freezing randomly during load screens, so if you have this problem go ahead and try switching the audio setting and see what happens.

I still have the crashing problem and I am on software. I actually don't have rapture as an option. I've re-installed and deleted game data. Still trying to sort it out. it all comes down to when I start a career this starts happening. If I do not start a career it seems to run just fine.

Hmm, mine also only shows Software mode for audio, which I thought was a bit strange.. and the first 2 times I did a single race in grand prix mode it crashed on the loading screen as soon as I hit continue after the race.. I think it also crashed once when I was leaving the time attack mode..
Actually, it doesn't really crash, it just freezes.. Live and Steam are still running fine, and if I go to Task Manager it doesn't say it's "Not Responding" either..
I don't think it's just this game either.. I had F1 2010 crash on me a few times since I installed 2011 (funnily enough) and when I first got Dirt 3, that game crashed quite a bit too, resulting in the fact that I've hardly played it because I was expecting a patch or something :P

I think its got to do with Codemasters Engine along with GFWL. idk. It's too bad because the overall game is good. But this freezing/crashing issue just gets frustrating after a while.

Exact same problem as you, find and install the latest rapture drivers from the f1 2011 stickie thread in help(as steam version dosen't install these) select to use these in audio options and im 99% this will sort your problem

You can try installing new rapture drivers, alas this did not fix a problem that was related to sound stutter but the solution i found may also be relevant here.
Go to:
E:\Steam\steamapps\common\f1 2011\system\hardware_settings_config.xml
Find where it says
<audio mixing="rapture3D" reverbs="4" voices="100" />
and change it to
<audio mixing="software" reverbs="4" voices="100" />
You could also try changing 'reverbs' to 1 (which I use currently but that was to fix my sound issue). This may not give you the option in game to choose another sound driver, it should at least force the game to use software and maybe help avoid some game crashing for you guys.

I am not PC boffin (I rely on this and other forums to help me through) but I have tried most of the above suggestions, without any permanent success. I go on instinct a lot of the time and instinct is telling me that it is a lot to do with my G27. When I get the freeze and crash problems, most times I can fix it (for a while) by unplugging my G27 from the power supply. Go into the game (with power back on wheel) and all is well again for a while....
