Question about Crossfire

So I have an xfx 5870 pciexpress 2.1 1gb card...

This might be a dumb question but can I crossfire it with a 6 series card? such as 6870, or a 6970?

Nope. You can only crossfire a card in the same series.

This can be done with certain 5000 series cards but not 5000 with 6000. Unless you get a msi motherboard w/fusion which allows you to mix and match almost any gpu.
