All my save data is gone?!

Just started this morning to find that all of my save data is gone (cain is locked and all the items are gone again. I have 3 achievements to prove i got them) and I have no idea what happened to it. I didn't do anything different or odd to it. Help?

If that's not the cause then it's CC Cleaner, Advanced system care or a similar program that is clearing out your flash and so your save data, just go to the program and see if it has a setting to skip cleaning Flash.

Fantastic, Firefox's standard Tools->Clear History completely remove saves :\.

not your browser stuff like cache and cookies since those only affect your browser, but cc cleaner and system care and the like also clear your flash stuff as well unless you set it to skip that. But yes like VVVVV pre 2.0 and machinarium.

Well I uninstalled CC cleaner and it still deletes my saves when I close the game.

I believe it was better privacy. I don't know how to protect it so I just removed it for now. Thanks.

Yeah there are tons of ways to accidentally remove those files. A definite mark against using Flash for games with unlocks/achievements. *cough* Steam Cloud

Well then you either still have something that is causing the saves to be deleted, Do you have something like Advanced system care or any other tune up program that deletes temp files that may do it as well if not then I don't know what to tell you but it's something something so try doing a google search for applications that will delete flash files located in %AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects and see what you come up with or you have something that is preventing the save files from being kept.

The game wouldn't save for me because of settings I had put on the Flash Player its self. Mainly the settings that prevent websites and third parties from storing data on my computer.

Yep, just happened to me after I deleted my internet browser cookies/cache, etc. Wish I had read this first before doing so.

If there's a glaring example to point to as to how dumb and antiquated this method for storing your save files is: The files are located in a folder named after a company which no longer exists.

That might help if your game is just not saving at all. Unfortunately after I found that solution, and the game APPEARED to be saving, I beat the game on playthrough 2 and quit, came back, and it hadn't saved my win. So even though I got crap like Judas' fez achievement the game is saying I didn't now, so he's locked again. Infuriating.

For me, I had to do these things:

1) go here: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html
and make sure `Allow third party flash content to store data on your computer' is enabled.
2) go here:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
and check is local is in the list below and allow it some storage (10 kb should be enough).

It's not CCleaner on my side.
I literally just launched the game first thing I woke up, and it had my unlocks from last night. But after alt-tabbing from fullscreen, the game disappeared, and upon reentering, the save data was gone.

This game is completely unplayable on my side until this issue is fixed and seeing as how saves are done in flash, I seriously doubt it ever will be. I love everything that this game is but this was a huge oversight. I've played about four hours on multiple playthroughs. I've unlocked two of the characters which are now, no longer available. To me, there is no reason to continue playing this game when my data will not remain saved. I am utterly disappointed right now.

Oh FFS. I had this happen to me. I love roguelikes, I love the game but this is about the dumbest way possible to handle savegames, especially if you give no warning that this sort of thing might randomly happen if you're using special privacy settings or system cleaning software.

This is pretty ridiculous. It's a fun game and all but god damn is this frustrating. Even if I were to set my Firefox to not delete history/cache/cookies when I close it.... it's still pretty ridiculous. Some day, my browser cache/cookies will need to be cleared for some reason and the file will be deleted. I don't mind this as much with VVVVVV since I can just unlock everything in that game immediately if I really want to play it, but when such an essential portion of the game is unlockable characters and massive amounts of secrets, this is a huge buzzkill.

Steam has to start banning games that use flash cookies to save games. Anyone running any sort of decent privacy settings on their browser is going to have that crap, 99.9% of which is malicious spyware, deleted constantly or blocked and turning that protection off because of a badly designed game is not a reasonable expectation.

Luckly the new patch is going to correct the loss of game data issue which should hopefully be out this weekend it all depends on Steam and when there going to issue it.

Whelp. I am having the same exact problem... now i will never be able to play Binding of Isaac on this computer ever again... Which ♥♥♥♥ing sucks. If there was a Patch. It was never issued... It happened to me as i said on my thread. I lost everything... went through a game. noticed nothing was unlocking. went to The menu. and opened Secrets found. it just Went through all the secrets found. every one of the secrets. and even ones i didn't find. all were cycled through very fast. i know it was every one of the secrets cus i saw Gish a couple times and C.h.A.D. i want a fix for this ASAP.

I use Mozilla, CCleaner and Advanced System Care, can anybody help with noting how to these up to avoid deleting the files?

I unchecked the Adobe Flash Player option in CCleaner but am unsure if that is all I need to do there. I can't tell exactly what settings I should be changing for Mozilla or ASC though.

I haven't had them delete on me yet as I only just started really playing last night, but I want to take preventative measures to avoid this oversight.

Might help to know how to back up your save files too just in case. Am I to understand that all I need to copy is the so.sol file? Should I be backing this up after exiting the game or while it's running (or does it not matter)?

Well it looks like the problem is fixed. o.o Everything seems to be working fine now. My Deaths and mom kills are actually shown as 0 instead of a blank spot. and everything is peachy keen. now to unlock everything again. i did a bunch of things that didn't seem to work. so i decided to uninstall and delete my local data manually till the issue was resolved but i think that fixed it...
