You have to get the Anarchy Edition to get the gun. The double barreled shotgun is the iconic ID gun. It's pretty ironic it's now pimped out to the marketing teams in console-like fashion.

Why would they include a preorder only item in the game if its not preordered. That kinda defeats the purpose of preordering it.

Yes, the shotgun was the 'original' - the double barrel was introduced in DooM II.

TBH I'd say the rocket launcher is more iconic of id. It's in more of their games (every one since Doom 1 AFAIK, it's even in Wolfenstein 3D as an enemy's weapon too), and it has a greater prominence in gameplay than other FPS games, so it differentiates id games from the rest of the genre more than the shotgun.

Still, usually preorders are gimmick weapons, not staples of the genre.

I think people consider the DBSG is iconic because it has been one of the major weapon loadout changes from doom 1 to doom2, and doom 3 to ROE.
