View Full Version : Why did you guys buy Rage on Steam?
i have been eyeing this game for a while but i dont wanna pay full price for a single player game, i usually dont do that. however, this game just like most games is cheaper in retail stores than on steam so my question is: what is your reason for buying it here? for example, people in the uk could get this game for ~24 pounds but some of them chose to pay 30 on steam. rage is also a steamworks game which means you can activate retail copies on steam.

Good question.
I did it for the convenience of purchase, the ability to pre-load, and the chance to play it Monday night/Tuesday morning as retail stores here do not have midnight releases, and they are also sort of out of the way.
However, not only can I not pre-load as many other users have also reported, but my RAGE countdown on steam tells me that the game unlocks Oct 4th - Tuesday at 4pm...
Can anyone else confirm that for me? It says 2 days and 20 hours, or 2 days and 19 hours in less than ten minutes. Which for me, equates to 4pm Tuesday where I will not only be in class, but would have had ample opportunity to grab a retail copy for less, and have obviously gotten much more.

The last game I had unlock at midnight EST (Dead Island I think) had the correct countdown showing that to be true, though this time it's saying tuesday... unless they've yet to update it or something.
I don't like Steam this weekend, it's causing my piles to inflame.

It really is a convenience thing for me as well, Retail can be a tad unreliable when it comes to purchasing new releases, then there is the whole download again when ever you want instead of scrambling to find the discs gain :D.
That and that I pre purchased this back when Quake Con was on and I felt it had finally got the respect from me to warrant a purchase.

My time saved not going to the store is worth more than the savings of buying retail.

Tell me about it. I'm in the UK and I didn't know the game was available so much cheaper elsewhere until after I ordered it on Steam.:o Not happy about that.

I buy everything on Steam. So Rage wasn't a question. For me, if a PC game isn't on Steam it doesn't exist to me.
