View Full Version : Horrific FPS Drops..

I figured I'd give this game the benefit of the doubt and pick it up after playing a few rounds in single player to get used to the controls, but not long afterward, I've started to experience these horrific frame drops. I go from a smooth sixty frames at good specs to what I can only guess is somewhere close to 2 or 3 FPS. It essentially becomes this jerky mess.
So I tried disabling pretty much everything and dropping the graphics as low as I could, but even that didn't seem to help. I dropped the resolution as low as possible, but that didn't seem to help, either.
To say the least, I'm at a bit of a loss here. Does anyone have any suggestions here? All of my other games run smooth as silk. I'll just assume there was some lack of optimization when you guys decided to port this over from the 360, which is glaringly obvious, by the way.

If you have ATI Catalyst Control Center (CCC) installed, make sure the Anti-Aliasing setting is set to 'Use Application Settings'.
When I first booted up the game and got into a race, just as I started racing the framerate dropped insanely low too. Nothing in the in-game settings made it work, however I remembered that I altered the Anti-Aliasing setting in CCC recently, so I switched that back and it works perfectly.
Fantastic game.

I went to go try that, as I did indeed have that installed, and it's already set to 'Use Application Settings'. Well, it's 'Application Managed', but the general idea is the same. So I'm at a bit of a loss here.

Hmm, are all of the other settings there set to 'Use Application Settings' or 'Application Managed'?

Bingo. Like I said, I'm at a complete loss. I don't have any other applications open, either. All of my other games play just fine, but I'm having trouble with this one and I'm at a loss as to why.
The 1st game I play is smooth. Each game after that is worse and worse. I have to restart after every game to get it smooth.
Memory leak? Who knows. I passed on buying because of this though. Enjoyable game otherwise.
Same trobles affected my 1st expression about this game , its quite funny . As we can see at these screens posted at Steam store page ( made with Fraps ) , it run at 60 frames per sec . Here I got Quode Cpu and Nvidia card and it drops incredibly low ( usually when i reache these colored booster barrels )

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, but it's still a problem. :/

Ahh, that sucks :/ Well, the devs have said that they're developing a fix for the DLC and will be sending out updates soon, so hopefully there's some kind fix for this soon too o:

Make sure you PC meets the minimum game requirements, that the video card supports shaders of Version 3.0. Change the game settings to minimum and decrease screen resolution. If you have already done this but the problem is still there then try to update DirectX and video card drivers. And if this doesn’t help then try to install vcredist ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403 ), deactivate Firewall and all other applications that may use a lot of memory. Your computer may also have a device which is incompatible with the game.
If you manage to determine any device which causes a problem please post the full name of the device in the forum so we can test and fix it. There is a great number of different additional devices and surely we are unable to test that our game is compatible with all of them. You should try to launch the game without it. This can be for instance a controller, joystick, wireless keyboard or mouse or any other USB device.
