This game seems to be good and I want to buy it but before I spend my money I want to know if anyone has run successfully in Windows 7. My brother owns this game on Steam and says he has problems running it in Windows 7 but he has no problems whatsoever with Vista. Still I've seen comments of people online who claim they were able to play it on 7.

Yes, I played it with no issues at all on Windows 7 64-bit on my laptop.

It plays for me, usually. The thing almost always crashes when I exit the game though, sometimes with a BSOD. I played it a little bit with a slightly different system and can't remember it giving me any trouble, but that was a while ago. The other system (which I think it was fine on) had Windows 7 32 bit with a GTS 250 and the newer setup has Windows 7 64 bit with a GTS 450. It's hard to say what the culprit is exactly, but I found a thread on the Codemaster's website where loads of people were complaining about it also (was supposed to be fixed by microshaft, but it's hard to say). Anyway, the common denominator seems to be Nvidia regardless of OS.
Edit: I was just playing today and the 24Hrs of Lemans was messing up severly. Anyone else have issues with this game? Did the patches that they released even do anything?

it works fine in Windows 7, if you are having issues though you can put in in a compatibility mode. Go to the steam folder where the game/exe is located, right click and go to properties, choose the compatibility tab and choose which system you want it to feel like it is using.

I'll give that a whirl, but I'm about 90% sure that it's a Nvidia issue because I have the exact same symptoms as a lot of other with Nvidia users on other forums. I don't know if it's related (I don't have issues with any other games), but I come across the error message that the display driver has stopped responding from time to time. I tried going back to driver ver. 275.33 to see if it has anything to do with it.
EDIT:
I just tried those 2 things and it's much worse now; it crashes almost instantly. It's a fairly new windows install (upgraded my RAM to 8 GB so I switched to 64bit) so I don't know what's going on. With almost all the exact same hardware the system was rock solid with a 32bit OS so I may revert back. Honestly there doesn't seem to be a any difference between having DDR3-8GB and DDR2-4GB of RAM anyway. I thought that the system would be a little more peppy, but even the windows performance index scores are the exact same. Sorry for all the rambling, I should be able to figure it all out.
