So it's on sale and I bought it.

Now I'm 5 minutes into the game and really annoyed already. There are blue dots (http://i51.tinypic.com/34pj4uw.png) highlighting objects you can interact with, the closer your cursor comes to them, the clearer they are visible. Are you serious? The whole point of adventure games is to find out stuff, to investigate.

The best thing: you can't turn those off, there seems to be no option for it.

Help system incorporated – ensure that player won’t get frustrated

Too bad it didn't mention that the help system can't be turned off. :(

Thanks for the post. Glad I came here to check first because that is a deal breaker for me.

What an absolute joke. Exactly why do these developers think these games need to be dumbed down for PC players? I mean I can understand it for console newbies, but ...

You can get it on GOG (Good Old Games) (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/broken_sword_directors_cut) if you want the original version (with no blue dots but admittedly dated graphics). It's bundled with the Director's Cut version, which was really more designed with console players in mind.

It didn't effect me at all. Since it only shows you want you can interact with. Saves time since before you just moved your courser across the screen.

And I can understand that some people like it. However I don't, I actually liked scanning the screen for stuff to interact with, that is a major reason why I like adventures. I just don't see why there's no option to switch it on/off, depending on each player's preferences. :(

I didn't think much of it but in a way yeah, it is going from one extreme to another.

The introduction of hotspot highlighters to adventure games was a godsend, for years people got stuck because of an obscure hotspot that you had to use and an optional highlighter eased the frustration.

But making the highlighter compulsory has taken it from one extreme to another like I said, is there definitely no way of turning them off in options? Been a while since I played the director's cut.

The only options are audio and resolution, sadly.
