Anyone ever played daggerfall? I used to play it long time ago... I was just watching a video footage of it, and saw the fast travel options in the video. I just realized how fun and challenging that option could really be.

Say for example... Without the fast travel. What if you can actually set up a camp of your own in the middle of your travels, and must rest? What if you actually have to rest at a Inn?

With the fast travel. What if you can actually choose the transportation you would take? What if you can actually choose how you are going to travel to your destination?

It looks fun in my opinion. Fast travels been way too easy, and people tend to run out of patience after couple hours of game play. After they swear to themselves not to use fast travel, they do anyways. What do you say people?

from daggerfall I always wanted that cart for horse. It would fit actually much more for skyrims work horses.

Fast travel is tempting but it's always much more rewarding to hoof it out. You miss the experience from killing things and you might miss stuff like dungeons, plants for alchemy, hidden treasure, what have you. Fast travel is nice for when you really have to go back to town to sell things right now, but otherwise I usually take the long route.

Yes but what I meant was, what if you can actually set up camp, cook..etc along the way of your travel, NOT using fast travel.

Daggerfall needed fast travel because it was huge, and mostly boring.

None of the more recent TES games needed it at all. I don't care if there's a fast travel system that lets me instantly jump from one location to another. I'm quite happy taking the long route, setting up camp on the way, and so on. I don't really see a need for a fast travel system that behaves like normal travel except you don't get to see the scenery.

Fast travelling was practically required in Oblivion. First of all, because the quests sent you from one end of the map to the other and back again. Secondly, Oblivion's scenery was so bland that you might fall asleep before you made it.

This being said, Skyrim's scenery looks much better (if not more diverse, at least more attractive). I'll definitely opt out of fast travel more often than I did in Oblivion or Fallout 3.

I would like to see a fast travel option like the ones in GTAIV/Red Dead Redemption. Where you had to find hubs to use the fast travel, or at least take the time to set up a campfire.
