Ok, so after i have downloaded Dunged Defenders, eager to start, the game started lagging on my HD6870. So after doing everything possible (uninstall, verify), I figured out what was the problem. For some reason, because of the drivers, the game doesn't recognized my video card, and tried to do the computation on my CPU. The solution: get an ATI driver, an uninstall (or install) Ati Display Driver, but don't restart! After that, it should work. I hope it gets fixed soon, because you will have to repeat this step every time after you restart your computer to get the game working.
I hope I helped some people.

How did you determine your video card is not recognized by the game?

I just guessed, because (if you know Bitcoin) the miner doesn't detected my GPU, and so used the CPU, which slowed down my computer (just like in DunDef), and this exactly solved my problem there too.

I have the exact same problem.
Just have to reinstall Nvidia driver and the lags are gone.

What doesn't make sense is why you have to this every single time you reboot the computer. I would reinstall your ATI drivers then do a DirectX reinstall as well.

Got the same card, don't have to do this. The game runs butter smooth for me.
I only got the latest drivers installed.

Are you using the ati beta drivers for RAGE? They've been known to mess up other games.

No, but once i have installed maybe ati 2.5 beta sdk app. I tried a clean uninstall of driver (with cleaning the registry and so on), but didn't change anything. I tried installing an older version of it, didn't help. Asked around in forums, no one knew what to do. I guess I will try another install now with the new 11.7, will report back if i got anything.

I just tried re-downloading and re-installing the drivers for my ATI 4670HD
but its still laggy, even on the menu screens. Has anyone found a real fix for this mess or do we have to wait for some heavy duty patching? Game is "playable" on local, but I fear trying to play with heavy waves of mobs of multiple players with this lag.

I don't have an ATI card but I wonder if the CCC allows you to tweak any settings on a per game basis? That might be a way to fiddle with some settings and see if it improves performance.
Also this new thread might help as well.

Same thing here, bout to reinstall the drivers again to make it playable. Weird thing is it only lags up durring building phases and in the tavern. Whenever the monster spawn starts it stops lagging until the last one is killed. Wouldnt be so bad but the lag is so bad durring the build phase that I cant get any towers placed or check equipment/levels. Very annoying and unplayable.

i5 - 2500k,
4gb ram,
GTX570,
Win 7 64bit,
Nvidia Driver 285.38 beta
Start laggy when enter into game (tavern or dungeon)
and the graphic is horrible. When exit the game (after press Yes to exit), the game CTD.
But after reinstalled the same driver. Game runs smoothy and the graphic has improved (a lot).
When restart PC, the same problem reoccur again. (lol, meaning everyday I will have to reinstall my driver in order to play Dundef)
- could it be win7 64bit problem?
- hardware problem with intel chip?
- graphic driver version?
- delete the game and reinstall the game?
- verify game cache?
- reinstall Directx?
- reinstall UE3Redist?
- Or wait till this is fixed (next patch)
