I might be getting a couple copies of Dungeon Defenders via Steam trade soon. I'm reading about a myriad of technical problems, and wondering if anyone can provide a recommendation for/against. Cliff notes would be nice too :p

Pros:
Really fun

Cons:
Their online service, TrendyNet is piss-unstable and basically disconnects you every 2 minutes

The problems are temperary so I wouldn't worry about that to much. There has already been a hotfix sended to Steam. Could be downloaded any moment.

This will be a game you can and most likely will play for dozens of hours leveling the characters and getting gear and such.

Yes, exactly, and it's such a shame, because the game is pretty good.
As TcoNL points out, though, this will (probably) be fixed - But right now, it's more annoying than fun :(

You can play in Open mode for now and it's more stable.

I watched various trailers, and the game looks to have a good variety of levels & challenges. I totally dig the art style, and the Steam exclusive loot (not pre-order as many believe) is nice touch. I'm torn between this and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. So popular opinion is that the gameplay is solid, yes?

Get Amnesia now, play through it now.
By the time you're done with it, Dungeon Defenders should be done with most major problems.

Poke me if you don't have enough cash IRL, and want to trade or something. (take a guess at my Steam nick)

Cheerios :)

I'm loving this game so much

I have no problems besides trendynet which will be up and stable later but that doesn't even really bother me much because we can still play "Open" and when trendy is up everyone who bought the game will have it downloaded and be ready for it

Cheerios :)I can't imagine Dark Descent will take more than a few days, though I'll likely spend several weeks looking for every secret, lol. I highly doubt that Defenders multiplayer will be left in this sorry state for long, but ya never know.

Sounds like they are making a serious effort towards fixing the connection issues. And nobody has yet said the gameplay is lacking. I'm feeling much better about the game's potential :)

My trade deal is all but official at this point, so I would love to get some tips before I dive in :)
