Getthread context failed error (cant fix it)

I have Kaspersky Pure total security (newest version) and even if I turn it off and run steam as administrator it won't start. Tried changing the AutomaticallyCheckForUpdates:1 to AutomaticallyCheckForUpdates:0 in the .dat file and that also failed to resolve it. I'm on W7 64bit. Any tips?

You might try posting in the AI War forums on the original topics about this, since that's where most of the AI War players hang out -- I don't use Kaspersky myself, but it sounds like they have done something that is triggering on this again.

It's particularly odd that this is dying with the Kaspersky off and with the web check off. It might be that Kaspersky is now interfering with how the game reads files off the disk, for some reason. That would probably be my first avenue of investigation, would be to see if there was something that was monitoring and intercepting disk activity.

I looked on your forum and saw the comment about disconnecting yourself from the internet and then going into settings and removing the automatically check for updates option, it seems to have worked! Now I can finally play on my new compy thanks.
