I actually like this game. Graphics are nice, driving with DRS and KERS makes it difficult. It is definitely a better game then last year.

Or even Rubber it in, 'cos you'll have me crying into me paper

I agree F1 2011 is a much better game than last years effort.

I dont know what people expect from a game nowadays a few bugs and people whine and moan as if their life has been turned upside down. Expectations weren't high when the game was released we all knew it would be more of the same but with a few extra bells a whistles but the way some people have been reacting they must have been expecting a totally different game.. erm hello its F1.

At the end of the day its just a game its not real it only cost £30 if you feel that disappointed with the game and its ruined your life I suggest people quit gaming all together.

Since it was 11 years since my last F1 game, I'm quite happy with this purchase but I can see it's serious flaws.

You can do alot worse with £30.

Have to say I am enjoying it a crap load more than 2010. Only game I've been playing since release. Well BF3 comes out soon so will be playing a bit less.

Yes it has some issues but heck of a lot of fun. Especially with mates

well yes people were expecting a totally different game, as promised by CM or did you miss lead up videos. It has more then a few bugs or should we make a list?
I actually like the game but it's disappointingly unpolished.

Hi skoops...well I think £30 is being taken to the cleaners for a
"few extra bells and whistles" mate. They drummed up this game for something it ain't; same as they did with 2010.
It is far from being F1 authentic; like they said it would be and we got what we deserve. A game we knew would be ok in parts, but hoped like hell it would be better than 2010, knowing it would not be, 'cos like you have said: they just put in a few bells and whistles, to try to shut us up!.
I am having some fun with this game; I am not disputing that...if you like F1, like I suspect most of us do here, you are bound to get a kick out of driving round the first class tracks in great cars that the game provides, but, the bells and whistles are just trimmings, to cover up all of the drawbacks. The physics are crap and that is after a slight improvement from 2010. It still freezes and sometimes crashes to desktop. The loss of progress bug is still around. The ai's still have a set of rules that apply only to them. I also want my agent back...she was an ugly old cow, but I miss her...don't get a lot nowday's!!.

F1 2011 should have been a £14.99 upgrade for F1 2010 owners, just like Cities XL 2012 fans got 57% off for owning the 2011 version.

I love f1 but wont be getting this till it's half price,

Seriously, any F1 fan with a decent computer is destined to try this game... actually any F1 fan with a decent computer already has F1 2010.

Yojimbo is correct: waiting is going to be a good thing for some people, but remember season F1 season 2012 is around the corner and it is terrible to drive a race sim modeled to last year's F1 regulations; not sure what is going to change in 2012, but something will.

I don't actually know what improvements it has made on 2010.

The graphics aren't better, the car textures make me mentally vomit, the gameplay is infuriating, and the loading times remind me of times on a windows 95 machine. When it's loading with that ♥♥♥♥ty garage image, i usually go for a p*ss, make a brew and get something to eat. And when i sit back down, it's still ♥♥♥♥ing loading!

To justify such loading times, you would have to do a 100% race, and who has the time for that?

It's coming very close to being uninstalled.

The graphics aren't better, the car textures make me mentally vomit, the gameplay is infuriating, and the loading times remind me of times on a windows 95.

The loading times are slow, but we are talking about 10 sec Binary Slave just mentioned... these could increase if the other people you will race online have slower PC's, but again we are talking about 10+5 seconds wait.

As for "car textures", that might be the fault of some video card settings or very old drivers... same happened with F1 2010 and was fixed with Aniosotropic Filter set manually at the GPU's control panel, at least for me.

In a few words: "if the game doesn't look exactly like in the videos... then there is something wrong.

What do you mean "the gameplay is infuriating"? You mean the driving? What brand and model wheel do you have? Also understand you need to learn the track before actually enjoy it, from braking points to which gear goes on each corner... and all that is a function of the car's setup: I usually never take corners on lower gears than 2nd, but I know someone who takes everything on 1st... and always end up with engine problems.

Pete Danger
10-27-2011, 06:38 PM
@ Sorrento.
I think the statement that the "gameplay is infuriating" is plain enough for anyone who has played the game.
After someone overtakes you and then pulls back onto the racing line, to suddenly brake hard, for no reason, giving you no chance of avoiding hitting him up the rear, is, in my book, very infuriating. The ai's in this game do that.
They also have a habit of going into a tyre warming routine when you are approaching them on your flying lap during qualifying, weaving on and off the racing line...to me this is also infuriating.
They ignore the flag rules, especially the blue flag rule and this can cost you the race...very infuriating.
It is also very infuriating; that they never seem to get a penalty for this blatant disregard for the rules...but we the players do.
I could go on and on, but there is no point, because for all it's faults the game is still enjoyable...when you win a race with the odds stacked against you; as they are in this game, there is a certain feeling of satisfaction.
I know all the tracks well (except maybe India) because I have been racing round them in games (mainly sim's) for donkeys years,'cos I'm an F1 nut.
We are not talking here about the quality of driving, or what wheel we use, mine is a G27 by the way, but the quality of the game, is what we are on about. It is not F1 as I know it.

Sorrento
10-27-2011, 09:56 PM
@Pete Danger
Ohh, you mean single player... indeed it is more than infuriating, it is a pain in each's behind. But correct me if I am wrong but all Ai's on all racing games in history were terrible if not worse, I wish it was better this time.

I know little about single player, I have 2010 and now 2011 because I play online with friends... and let's just say I have my hands full with a couple of them, while the other two drive really well. Racing with just 5 cars, but each to be a human being, it is more exciting than single player games... and fun when the mics are set to auto: when someone makes a mistake you can also hear him/her say so loudly, lol.

I haven't tried India... and I think I should asap: next race is this weekend and it feels really good to know the track thru F1 2011 before the real race starts: during their practice, qualifying and race it is a delight to know the track, the corners and which gears they use on each.

This game is not like CoD or Battlefield where it is easy to just click "play online" and go into the fray with unknown people.

F1 201x works better if you play with known friends, people whom you know how capable they are behind the wheel... A WHEEL, and not a 12 year old kid trying to play with the keyboard: if you create a game with real time difficulty, no aids, people with out a wheel won't be able to do anything.

Actually people with wheels have issues too, lol. Simulators are for old adult people, really! (I am 42) :D

Yikes! Take it easy, no need to rush... :D

Seriously it is just about having other F1 interested friends with decent computers and hardware and convincing them to get the game... like a club, and follow the real championship schedule to race on the same tracks.

Grr, the India race is in about 2 hours... I doubt I will be awake to watch it live: will have to do so with the recorded DVR thingy

Not long finished watching the race LIVE. Not a classic in terms of racing, but very enjoyable because of the new track and community involved.
Good time here in the UK for the race time start: 9-30am, not as early as some of them out in the East.
If you don't mind me asking Sorrento; where are you situated on this 'ere planet?.

Mexico, enoying Sergio Perez' drive today... he couldn't catch Adrian Sutil but he defended his position well against Vitaly Petrov. The race was more exciting behind Vettel and Button...

Massa had a good race too, until he was taken by surprise by Hamilton's great pass skills... IMO Hamilton needs to cool down, he is a magnet for incidents, but this time he did not had the blame. Jenson Button is the better driver of the team, by far... Hamilton needs to learn Jenson's coolness and tire management.

If any of you have wheels (i use xbox 360 wheel on my pc) i'm more than willing to race. Racing games are meant for wheels. more so with F1, Its horrible with a controller, never mind keyboard A wheel is the way to go for the best F1 experience

Don't use any assists either so!

F1 2010 was fun, But online was pretty horrible at times :) Looking forward to see if PC users are willing to have good clean races :)

Trolls, trolls and more trolls. Get over it and go play Super Mario Kart. This game is a lot of fun. It runs great and looks great on my machine. I've been doing computer racing games since back in the day (1985). This one is just fine. Grow up and stop being a bunch of immature punks trying to rile up those who are enjoying the game.

Probably SMK has even better car physics;).
Believe me, its is no trolling. I cant do otherwise than compare F1 2011 to EA's 2002 or Jeff Grammonds F1 series. In that context CM is missing the point completely with saying that they make a F1 simulator. The AI is simple carbage deluxe. It was in F1 2010 and it is in F1 2011 and will always be. Why? Because CM is not focused on making a race simulator but a nice shiny race fun game.
Even Grandma must be able to drive a lap in a F1 car sitting on the couch with a controller in her hands. And that is okay! The only problem is that CM is the only one that makes a F1 game.
Last year i shelved F1 2010 after three hours of play. This year i will race F1 2011 but with my teeth grinding and mostly i will only do time trials cause i just cant handfle the way the AI reacts. Hell, if they would react this way in real life, i would watch every single race. It would be 1 big mess:cool:

I came here because I'm a long-time Race07 junkie considering buying F1 as I am a huge F1 fan and I love driving the open wheel cars. I think that last post from Sorrento may sum up a lot of the complaints. Judging from what he's just said this IS he game I'm hoping that it will be - that describes much of what makes the RACE series so addictive - just like RL you need to know what the #### you are doing or you going to be sitting in an expensive pile of bent and broken parts - except unlike real life you DO get do-overs! (thank <insert deity of your choice here>). Unfortunately there are a lot of people who play nintendo-ish games that have everything assists as the default and often realism isn't even optional...so when they get into a decent sim and venture onto the course and wreck in the first, second, third....twenty-third corner they can't understand why and say it's a dumb game...

In fairness though - if there are any serious sim-drivers out there who want to try to warn me off with some illustrative examples of what they feel is wrong I'm still all ears...it's not about the money - an hour or so of my time is worth more than the cost of the game. Any serious racing sim is going to cost me more than a few hours (I have thousands in on the RACE series...)

Quick question for the staunch supporters though - is 2011 the way to go or should I buy 2010, or should I buy both? How about other codemaster games. I own everything SIMBIN ever realeased and don't regret a single purchase; but eventually I guess we all look for new challenges.

To anyone still reading this long-winded diatribe - thanks for listening ;)

Cadalfaus, Im a hardcore Simbin serie racer. I started with GTR2 and now I have every Race On expansion and i still race every week.
So what makes Race On a great game? The ingame options for the controller, race setup options, car physics, sounds, and probably the best part: de mods, tracks, cars, liveries from nogrip which makes the serie complete.

F1 2011: As i said: the car physics are okay. One problem is the transition from the car towards my G27. I just dont have enough feeling in my G27. In Race On i do feel every tiny movement in the car. I know exactly when i hit under -oversteer. I don not in F1 2011. Suddenly its there, but that could be part of a F1 car, i dont know. But as far as it still is a game it would be nice to have more feeling.
Tracks and graphics: very fine. Nice details. The sounds are disapointing.
When i compare F1 2011 to Race On i would say: Simbin is simulator, F1 2011 is a arcade sim. If you are looking for a F1 sim that meets Simbin, go to raceroom and dl their free(!) F1 car.

so once happened with another game. It was released unplayable, with a lot of bugs and crashes. Only after 2 or 3 months buyers have about what they've paid for (after 6 patches!!!). But the following year when it continued the game developers have established loyalty bonus for buyers of the previous game (-50% from the price of new game). It is hoped that the CM will do well to maintain its reputation.

Now with 2011, I'm having a lot of fun. Now if I could just figure out when to pit to switch to the prime tires. :-)
