As Title... I and him are Aussies. And here is his rig:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7800 (not overclocked)
GTX 9800 @1GB vRAM
2x2GB DDR2 RAM
750GB HDD (500GB + 250 GB)
450W PSU (unknown brand, since he bought this in full set from HP)
Intel Motherboard (Unknown model, but it's definitely has dual channel RAM slots)
Window Vista (32-bit)

He has a budget of 200 Aussie dollar, And if you look into my older post I have my OCZ 850W sent for a RMA. Will lend him my "Returned" PSU, so considering he is going to have a over powered PSU just give me any suggestion on his upgrade

EDIT:
C'mon guys, just throw in any suggestion...

Yeah, already tried ask him about the HP model, but he says it is a Birthday gift from his relatives, they did told him to contact them if warranty is needed, but the Desktop works just fine for the next 3 years, until it is dated. So, no idea.

well, I shouldn't say his rig was THAAAAAT old in the first place, but yeah, considering his overall performance and he's going to grab BF3, I would say he definitely going to need an upgrade, at lease his Graphic card.

But seriously, back on topic, Come one guys at least a few suggestion, I understand decent GPU will need a quad core CPU to boost the performance but I don't think it'll affect that much, would it?

Your processor isn't too bad and the rest of your rig is still pretty decent. All you really need is a new graphics card and, possibly, a new power supply with about 600 watts, preferably with an 80 Plus rating.

Yeah as I said I will lend him my RMA'ed OCZ Z series 850W (Main purpose to test the result whether it has been fixed)

Any recommend GPU model?

Offending.
My GPU is a generation older than his, yet I don't think mine is OLD OLD.

He will be CPU limited though..That's the very same model of card I have, running it as my main card and together with the PowerColor HD6870 PSC+, I get pretty darn good FR.

BTW, wanna talk about CPU bottleneck? Try my 3rd rig - Sapphire HD5870 + AM2 X2 5200+, beat that!:D

I think his CPU socket is 775 while Q6600 will require a LGA 775 to place it, unless it doesn't...

all depends on the mobo if hp have not done a bios update for there board you might not be able to replace the cpu

1. Check the motherboard model and see if it's capable of a E8400 chip. Its a pretty fast Dual Core chip and can be found easily off ebay.

2. Upgrade to Windows 7 and your 4GB ram will be fine for the moment.

3. ATI HD6670/HD6770/HD6850 are all good, depends how much money you have left. I had the HD5670(previous gen of 6670) and it was perfect for games with my 19WS" monitor, anything bigger, either lower the quality or lower the resolution.

Also look on gumtree.com.au, sometimes theres alot of cheap goodies :)
