View Full Version : Possible bugs - frame freezing and not recognizing arrow input

I just bought Sequence, and I'm enjoying myself immensely. Very good game. However, I believe I've discovered a few bugs in it.

First of all, sometimes the screen freezes for a second or two, while the game still progresses. This can be pretty disastrous if it happens in a tight battle. It doesn't screw you completely over, since the game actually does continue even if it doesn't show, and if you have the rhythm by heart, you can save it. Still, it's nothing good.

I admit that it might be a local thing, since my laptop is far from a gaming rig, but I still fulfil the system requirements and then some. For information, I'm playing in fullscreen, I saw there's been some bugs in that mode in another thread just now. I'll try windowed mode and see if it helps, but still, just so you know.

Secondly, sometimes it seems as if my arrow keys lose responsiveness. Now, I'll not say it's not as if I couldn't just have missed some beats, but Sequence is pretty forgiving about when it hits and suddenly beats that I think should have hit just flow on past.

Thanks for a great game!

Agreed on both points. Also the random pauses do become gamebreaking for the later levels when you are trying to learn spells which require either really high accuracy or especially long strings. On one of the 150 streak req spells I've gotten to 145 twice and the game lagged causing me to miss. Whee.

As far as the random misses go, you can even see the arrow flash indicating it registed the keypress, but you still dont get credit.

I posted this earlier, but I'll post it again since you bring up the unresponsive arrows.

Keyboards suffer from an effect called ghosting and jamming. This can make it impossible to hold multiple keys down at the same time. It's possible that while you were trying to hit "left right up", that you were still holding left and right when you went to press up, and left/right could have jammed the up key, causing it to miss until you released left or right.

Use this thread, and the applet in the linked article, to determine if your arrow keys jam each other. Try to hold all four at the same time; if any of the arrows don't light up then that one is jammed by the others.

I was getting the frame freezing myself. At random times after not moving the mouse or pressing any keys the screen will freeze. The game logic continues and the music keeps playing but there is no activity on screen at all.

For me, the solution was to disable Xfire in-game. Doesn't like it for some reason.
