Well Iw as having this issue, it was due to my Alienware M17X having switchable graphics (Switch between ATI or Intel Card depending on power consumption needs). Well this was definitely the issue after updating the drivers and trying a few other solutions. There was no option in the non modded BIOS to turn off switcheable graphics.

What I did to fix:

Open Devie Manager
Expand Display Adapters
Disable (Lower End) Intel Display Adapter

As soon as I did this, the game finally launched. I'm assuming this will be taken care of in a later patch.

Thanks,

Tokey

Good to hear! Only reason I posted it is (besides it making me feel I was contributing something) is that if it could alleviate someone else's frustration, then I've done a good service.

Hi

I've tried everything but nothing works.
Do you have maybe a more detailed description how to the disable the "lower end" of the graphic?
Or does it not for my graphics card?
HD 6550M Radon 2651MB has the latest update.
Windows 7 64bit

Thanks for help,

Thanks for help,

Well this was only for computers with switchable graphics. Under Display Adapters you would see two listed such as your Radeon 6550M and another (Mine was a Intel Display HD something or another) just right clicked on it and disabled. This is usually a feature of Laptops and since yours is a mobility (the M in your 6550M) you may have this feature as well. Also in the BIOS some manufacturers allow you to disable this feature, but I did not. Although if only one Display Adapter is listed, I doubt this would be your issue. Sorry, I couldn't help more. They had some other fixes floating around such as editing the config.xml under your Stronghold 3 directory, but I never saw anyone post that it actually worked.
