my friend cant run the game!!!

hi there, is there anybody who cant start the game? my best friend Big_Joe cant run the game it's dont start by steam!!! thanks for help! Candy

he can play all other steam supportet games like Left4dead1+2, Rage, portal2 a.s.o.

The 5 steps to a game not starting on Steam:

1 - After installing game...close/shutdown Steam and restart it. Try game again.

2 - If no luck on #1...restart computer. Try game again.

3 - If no luck on #2...reinstall game.

4 - If no luck...check all drivers..in particular your video drivers. Update them.

5 - If still no luck...email one of the devs (which several are posting on here) the system specs and exactly what is happening.

ok, Big_Joe did that all for sure!!! nothing helps, is there a place where he can get a log spec of the game if it's never started?

what does that mean, it doesn't start?
Does it open a windowed screen and instantly crash?
Does it go fullscreen and instantly crash?
Do you even get an error at all?

If you manually start the game, what happens?

Checking the game cache (Right click game in steam > properties > local files > verify integrity of game cache)
To make sure he actually has the files all there and nothing is missing.

if he try to start the game, nothing is happen. no message, no window, nothing, i only can see him for a few seconds in game on my friends list, then off again.

with a manually start, it says: need steam for to start!

the game cache is checked and everything seems fine!

Is there really only one person with this problems, how strange!
Ok, today he will try it with 4GB Ram, 2GB Ram is a bit less.

Two things to check:

First the version of his graphics card drivers. Just go to C:\Nvidia\DisplayDrivers to get an idea which driver he last installed.

Secondly it's his windows. Which Service Pack does he have? Can remember me having problems with the UDK way back, requires the latest microsoft framework and service pack.

An odd possible fix would be to download the latest UDK version and install it. Since it comes with everything that the Haunted would need to run too.
