So i downloaded GRID today. Started it up created account and went to race. It crashed. Started it up again, Got to the menu, then crashed, rebooted, started it up again, then it gets to the loading screen after the trailer and freezes. Rebooted several more times and started it up and kept on freezing there. Whats the problem?? I tryed turning the steam community off and -novirtual but that didnt work.

really not sure what's wrong on your side,
I was scared to get the same issue, but the game started perfectly fine without having to do anything special.

Try running it in launch options under -safemode instead of -novirtual. I did that to mine and it worked, then went into game and messed with the graphic settings by changing em around to pretty much everything maxed.
I quit the game, took of safemode, and have now had no more problems playing it since. Hope this works for you.

I've tried both safemode and novirtual and can't get it working. Although today was a step forward, the game will actually launch now. I see the opening movie and intro thing, but once on the main menu, the whole screen is black. I can hear the clicks from moving up and down the different options, but I can't see a thing. I've also tried forcing it into windowed mode, 800x600, and that also does not help....

Have you tried reinstalling openal and DirectX? I did that to mine, not exactly sure if it helped or not though.

I reinstalled openal by going to the folder, and running a file called oalinst.exe. It showed a licence agreement, clicking okay brought up a message saying "installation complete". I'm assuming thats how its done, that did not help though. How do i re-install direct x?
Same here , dosent working for me..

Got this from another thread, I deleted the OpenAl the game installed and then re downloaded from here: http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/oalinst.zip
DirectX can be found here:

I reinstalled both of these, then turned off steam community option, and ran it in launch options as -safemode. I assume your copies are running fine using the integrated graphics?
