I did download the full release game today from Steam. I'm an old simmer from way back. Was there with R. Harvey and the release of "FLY" played all the Unlimited sims..all the MS-flight sims...Longbow series, Appache series...on and on it goes.

But over the last few years I left simming pretty much all together. Well, I saw this game being advertised here and the old desire to get back into a good sim came back. I found one of my flight sticks I still had left, Saitek Cyborg Evo. A good, simple stick that does the trick.

I have a mid to high end system.....

Firstly, the glitces in graphics I have so far are: Flickering menu buttons in game. textures loading slowly at times, a fair bit of stuttering on Normal to high settings. And programming my stick has been a pain as well.
So the old memories of simming came flooding back in...the tweaking, and testing, and rewritting configs etc...were, and looks like still are, a part of flight simming on the PC.

Some of the graphics are very good and others look like they're from a game 5 years old. Over all though they are good enough for simming. Flight model seems to be good. Its as twitching and intense as I remember Longbow, and Appaches were years ago.

I think the game is solid at its core. But it feels like it came out of the oven too early. Like about 6 months too early.
I hope updates and patches will flow fairly fast and regularly, but I'm not to up on this company so I'm not sure of their track record.

But like sims of old, you gotta hang in there long enough for the devs to get all the tweaking and patching done and your patience will be rewarded. I'm hoping ToH is going to fit that mould as well.

I know I got it today, but I've already sunk hours and hours into it. I think what I'm saying is fairly accurate.
I'm hanging in there with this one, I have a good feeling that it will shine one day.

Hi,

BI have an excellent track record for patching and updating their games. Plus, the community give the games massive support with many community made updates. Check over at the official forums (http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=114) to see what's happening. The devs post often at the forums and they run a Community Issue Tracker to enable people to log bugs so they can be fixed.

I can say for definite that BI are not a 'fire and forget' outfit. The game will get better with both BI and community input. Head over to the forums and join in.

+1

A lot of us have been around since OFP and can say for fact Bohemia is very loyal to there customers.I have faith they will keep fixing and improving TOH.Just like any game or sim out there things will need improving.I havn't noticed any glitches yet on my system but I haven't spent that much time in game either(to busy in arma2 lol).

It's also worth mentioning for those that are unaware. The community updates and modifications are additions to the TOH (and Arma) games and unlike a lot of game mods do not replace the original game in any way. You can decide to run with a mod or run the game in 'vanilla' mode by not including the mod.

The game has been built to allow these modifications and you are not breaking any terms and conditions from BI by using them. Of course if you run into issues using a mod then it is at the author of the mod and not BI that you should direct your feedback.

For those that like to go and play the game the way it was built as well as try out 'cool stuff' this is excellent.

In all my years of gaming I have not seen a developer like BI, I hope they continue in the same vein for years to come.
