I feel like a ♥♥♥♥ victim! buy a "new release" 16 days ago then all of a sudden the game is on sale. That's a great way to treat the people who supported and paid full price for your game.
If it was 2-3 months down the line fair enough but 16 days? wtf. Worst of all it isn't even 20% or something off it's 75%! Thanks for the slap in the face. Last time I support one of your games at launch that's for sure.

I know how you feel on this. I paid 40 dollars for dlc for Fallout New Vegas only the next week it was 50% off. It's just one of those things. I hate that you're upset. Look on the bright side. You're out 10 bucks and I'm out 30. I don't think the company Doublefine has anything to do with the deals made on Steam. That is all up to steam. I hope you find a game for 3 bucks that was 30. It will all balance out. It's just one of those things we all have dealt with. Don't despair!

Like has been mentioned in the 2 other sale threads (one started by yours truly) this isn't "16" days old but rather over a year old (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costume_Quest). Picked this one up this morning when I noticed they decided to finally add it to the Halloween sale for a more suitable price.

it's 16 days old on steam and on the pc. So yes it's not a year old.

The game is itself but not on the platform. It's a brand new game for the pc. It was released for pc users who don't have a 360. It's a brand new title for pc users.

Limbo is more than a year old too on the consoles, the game was released on PC 3 months ago, and you don't see a huge discount like this.

If you're that sensitive about price drops then just don't buy games right after release. Sooner or later every game gets discounted, you should know that if you aren't completely new to Steam.

Not 16 days after release. I have plenty of games on steam and have bought lots at launch. I've never complained once. However 16 days after release is just a joke and a slap in the face.

No, that would be horrible. Of course Valve only lowers prices after talking with developers/publishers.

Indeed, hence the reason I haven't bought it yet, waiting for it to be more appropriately priced ;)
Although to be completely honest the last bunch of Humble Indie bundles + this new Indie Royale that was recently ran has made me pretty much stop buying these type of games from steam and instead wait :p

I bought this game from the sale, but totally see where you're coming from. People shouldn't even be defending this, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥y move, that's all it is. You can't defend it saying it was released over a year ago, you gotta look at the sale, relative to the platform. If it was released a year ago, then shouldn't the base price be overall much lower rather than having a huge discount soon after release on PC.

For sure, games are bound to be on sale sooner or later, especially on steam, the POINT of this thread which many of you keep missing is, a 67% discount 2 weeks after release is cruel and definitely should not be expected. It's certainly not a financial disaster for people who bought it before the sale, but what it is, it's a slap in the face to those loyal enough to buy it early at full price.
HAVING SAID THAT, for my own greed I was more than happy to see this sale =)
Peace.

I agree this is a slap in the face to people who bought it full price. But I think it was just poor judgment about the release date of this game. Releasing a Halloween-themed game two weeks before the major Halloween sale was a bad decision.
If you ask me, this game should've just been released at half-price to coincide with this Halloween sale.

its a year old
On other platforms. Assuming you own a PS3 and 360 and had the potential to play it for the past year. Otherwise, this is a brand new release for PC gamers. People bought it at $14.99, and a couple weeks later it's on sale for $4.99. Those people will naturally be upset.
Of course, I wish they had the foresight to realize that it was very likely the game would go on sale during Halloween. This is why I waited until now to purchase it. But it's still not their fault for wanting to support a game on release date.

I tought it might go on sale for like 20% off or 25% not almost 70% off.

Yeah I know, I wouldn't have guessed that much either. The timing and pricing of the PC release date was just really bad. Should've been released closer to Halloween at an already discounted price. Would've got better exposure, more sales, and everybody would be happy.

Gaming axiom #1: there are new games and there are cheap games, but there are no new cheap games.
We all get burned eventually. Who hasn't bought something (not just games) only to see it on sale a few days/weeks/months later. I really wouldn't waste energy on being angry at some company because you feel personally slighted. Modern ecapitalism is an abstracted impersonal machine and should be treated as such. Save your emotional energy for the actual people in your life.

I also bought it for normal price. This is just bad luck.
You thought it was worth the price, you bought ist, you can't complain because it is now cheaper.

I can understand the frustration with a 16 day window between release and a sale of 75% off, but there's not much you can do, except be more careful in the future with day one purchases. Especially when it's an "older" title (even if that means on another system) and one with a theme like Halloween.
I think many people hoped and waited for a Halloween discount, I know I was one of them.

OP, I'm assuming that you were OK with the price of the game when you bought it (or else why did you buy it?). So, if you were fine with the $14.99, and are simply irritated that now it is only $4.99, do this. Close your eyes, and pretend that it never went on sale for Halloween - problem solved. Once again you return to your happy place of being content with the price you paid for the game.
If you were OK with the price you paid when you paid it, what on earth do you have to complain about. What, should Steam / the manufacturer check with you (and everyone else who bought their game) before putting the game on sale? Do I have the right to complain every time something goes on sale if I didn't get the sale price (regardless of when it goes on sale)
AND, why on earth did you pay full price for a Halloween game when you KNEW that Halloween was only 2 weeks away, and that STEAM typically has a large Halloween sale, and that this game is a prime candidate for that sale.
It seems to me that the only one who is to blame for you paying full price is you, because you didn't want to wait 2 weeks. Sorry if it sounds mean, but it's true.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm upset that you got to play the game 2 weeks before me, because I decided to wait and see if the game was going to go on sale. I mean, how dare Steam make me wait 2 extra weeks, when you got to play it before me. That logic doesn't make any sense does it? Neither does complaining about a sale price, because you didn't want to wait, and others did.
Again, sorry if this comes across as being mean, but your logic really is pretty flawed on this.

god shut up they always put new indie or cheap games on sale shortly after, don't you ever learn? besides people have been saying they did it because of halloween, which makes perfect sense, so why are you complaining? just be happy more people get to play and enjoy a good game.
