What's all the whining about? This game is ace. Only thing I would change is to add skirmish vs AI.

With over 1400+ post and you being a long time member, I'm not sure why you would post something like this?

Well maybe because he likes the game, besides the great flaws like wolves climbing on stairs, random crashes, scenarios giving you control of the wrong units, etc.
The game is flawed, true, and its going to take a long time and effort to fix it.

What's all the contentedness about? This game is terrible. Only thing I would change is everything.

I really mean it. I've never played the previous versions, so I expect that is doing me a favour. I'm on the 5th single player military mission and have seen no bugs. My hero dude walks very oddly sometimes but that's just funny.

It's a great game, but it definitely needs some work still.

Thats the reason. Most people who played ANY previous stronghold game (maybe excluding the online one) would probably agree that this game is crap. One from almost 10 years ago is better than this one.

I have been a gamer for the past 30 years (starting with Return of Zork "want some rye..course you do"). I respect the varying points of view and emotions posted brought about by poor, incomplete workmanship that Firefly has to take ownership of. Here is my take. First I have not had to suffer, what many have had to, related to game crashes etc, software bugs etc. SH3 has worked flawlessly in terms of performance on my computer; and still needs "balance work" (and other things noted by posters) in the fix of stupid obvious things. I find the game to be 70% of what I want it to be. It will eventually get to 100% if the company stays committed. It will be a fine; solid game that fills a niche in gaming.
My main concern is the fact that some are invested in the success and completion of SH3 and many are rightfully emotional in feeling ripped off and thus are not invested in its future success. Some others of us are invested and will stay the course, because of its potential. And in the end, afterall it is ONLY a game.
THe real ? is whether Firefly will continue to disappoint or whether it will pull up its pants and be psyched to care, and create a unique product. I hope all get get a refund who care about getting a refund. I hope all others stick with it and create a fascinating multiplayer SH3; with player and company content part of it all.

I'm going to have to agree with maqabee. I've been gaming for over 20 years and have played my share of crappy games. It is clear to everyone that SH3 was pushed out before it was fully ready.
I want to add that part of my job is to review organizations development units. I can say with confidence that this is an example of poorly conducted user acceptance testing. i.e. Beta testing. I have seen this before in a variety of products and environment. 10 to 1 says they had developers also complete most of the testing, which means most of the testing was done on machines were were designed to far exceed the recommended specifications. It also demonstrates poor project management. All this really means is that they need to offer us significant post release support, but this can take some time.
That being said, the only issue I have had is occupational crashes on loading save and some issues selecting units. The new engine is amazing, and there are plenty of entertaining points to the game. Plus, it is nice to have a game that actually utilizes a multi-core processor.

I actually have to agree with you there. I guess you can still have fun with SH3 (I can't). But to say it's "great"? That's ridiculous.
There are just too many obvious, objective flaws with the game - that the UI doesn't work, that the cursor just doesn't work, the very outdated graphics, the countless bugs, and THAT THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO ENEMY AI!!! All these aren't a matter of opinion, but fact. I honestly congratulate anyone who can still have fun playing SH3, but it's just plain ridiculous to ignore these problems and say it's "great".

i love stronghold 3, keeps to its roots like stronghold 1. Some minor bugs that need to be patched but the gameplay is great, and castle building is fun.

Minor bugs?!? Units frequently stop moving without reason, regularly refuse to climb towers, ignore enemy units approaching them, change their stance to "aggressive" on their own. It's almost impossible to place stairs, the cursor is too inaccurate to select the unit you want, the whole UI is terrible. There is literally no CPU AI! Instead, the computer gets a bunch of units that spawn out of thin air at regular intervals; the CPU doesn't train units, build buildings and doesn't need resources.
All these are problems with the game that everyone should be able to objectively agree on, even you.
In addition, there are a whole bunch of questionable game design desicions like walls and towers that don't offer any defensive bonuses (!!! Then why build castles at all? In a game centered around castle building!), wolves/bears that climb ladders and are ridiculously overpowered, and (for me) the walls that any unit can kick down. I could go on.
I was really looking forward to this game, but this is a train wreck.
Oh, and by the by: SH3 does NOT "keep to its roots like SH1" - SH1 worked. SH3 doesn't. SH1 had an AI. SH3 hasn't. In SH1 walls offered defensive bonuses. In SH3 they don't. In SH1 you had control over your units. In SH3, you have a cursor you can hardly select a unit with and an incredibly buggy UI.

The one thing I am truly enjoying despite all the bugs and inbalances is the music and the visuals (not talking about graphics) of the game. I can sit on my computer and just stare at a waterfall for hours (not really lol). Again I love the music sooo much, and again the visuals are spectacular.
