What character are you playing? There's been a lot of talk about how melee- heavy the mage is. How about the Ranger? Are you running out of ammo? How's the crafting, as it is, working out? Are you running mostly solo, or co op? How do you feel about running old missions in a public co op, just to level up?

I am playing as the Ranger (Name is Eradan)

There's been a lot of talk about how melee- heavy the mage is.
I have not played as the mage yet but for now the Ranger has been a lot of fun. The ranger can use swords, (learn abilities like dual swords) or bow. Yes, its hack n slash, basically you click Left Mouse Button for regular attack and Right Mouse Button for heavy attack (or fatality)

Are you running out of ammo?
No there are boxes, chests, lying around to loot. Plus at certain points the game allows you to go back to places and buy supplies, such as potions and arrows and such.

How's the crafting, as it is, working out?
Did not realize there is a crafting ability. It would be great to have a manual but until then its more of a look and see.

Are you running mostly solo, or co op?
I have been playing Solo and having fun. If any of the characters die then another can revive them as long as they are all not dead then you have to load a save. BTW the game automatically saves and doees not provide an option for you to manually save, which can be frustrating if something happens after killing a big boss

How do you feel about running old missions in a public co op, just to level up?
I level up just fine without having to join public coop.

I've played with mostly the dwarf and the mage. They do play quite differently.

The dwarf I've found has a lot more opportunities for special moves since he's getting closer to the action and the 'critical tickers'. Plenty of finishing moves and critical severs.

On the other hand, the mage mostly I've been getting headshots (they work, go for it!) and though she can melee as well as the others it seems, she just isn't designed for wading into 3+ enemies at a time. once she gets the upgrade for faster passive regenerating energy, she's good to go for a lot of slimming down rushes. She is pretty unparalleled for repelling waves of sappers as she can literally fire as fast as you can hit the fire button, as long as you have the energy. Using herbs to make potions of wisdom accelerates her regeneration as well.

As for the ranger, I was surprised his bow takes so long to shoot in comparison, he's about as fast as the dwarf's crossbow. I expected him to be at least halfway between the dwarf and the mage in terms of fire rate but they're actually pretty close. I found him a bit lacking in melee as his swings are slower than the dwarf, but I was playing him with a two-hander and I think he is better suited to a onehander and a shield for melee. Will see.

As for the public coop question, I've tried and not found any games running when I tried to play coop. Maybe it was just a bad time of day... hopefully anyways, coop was one of the reasons to get the game in the first place.

PS: the mage has the crafting ability, she can pick up the various flowers and mushrooms laying around and combine them into consumable items that heal or buff. Hopefully someone will make a guide with the combinations soon, I've just slowly been noting thing down as I go through. ;)

The rangers bow skill tree line has upgrades to both damage and speed. Maxed out, it's pretty fast.

I've heard the dwarf can mine gems, too, for crafting socketed items or somesuch.

I've been playing the dwarf, pretty exclusively, two handed wielding. I'd like to try a sword and shield approach, since that's my normal playstyle, and I may give that a go. Intrigued by the mage, tho... seems to have some good AoE and direct damage too. Less healing than I'd expected, though.

i'm Spattercat in forums and on Steam, if anyone wants to play. One of my buddies has been put off by the reviews, which I think is a shame, since the game has a lot of pleasing moments. I'd start from scratch, whatever.
