The PC version is coming out soon and I would like to ask a question. I bought the Xbox version since I figured that would be the game's main platform, as Sonic games are mainly for consoles. The thing is, I would also love to play the game on PC. Do you guys think it would be worth it to get both?

Not really I would get the 3ds version if you already have the xbox version since the 3DS version has compelte different levels. The only real difference between the xbox and PC version is the graphics difference.

I don't have a 3DS yet, but I will get one soon. I will also get the 3DS version of Generations because it has different levels.

My PC is a little bit better than the recommended, so I certainly can run it well. The thing is, I don't know if they'll release DLC on PC, so I got the Xbox version to be safe. I am interested in getting the PC version for the convenience of having it on both platforms and the ability to just press a button when I'm on the computer and be playing the game. I think I'd enjoy it on both systems.

Nope. Buying 2 versions of the same game seems like a waste of money, you should buy something else instead.

But, if you're really committed to buy this game on pc, at least try to spend as little on it as possible, the game is ~18€ on greenmangaming (not sure about the american prices), it's a steamworks game, so no matter where you buy it, you'll have to activate it on steam.
I bought an hour ago, already preloaded, now can't wait for the release :) 3 more hours :o

I own a few games on multiple formats, but in those cases I've usually had the console one first and then got the pc verison when it was on sale sometime, but then also in those cases the PC versions tended to release a month or two after the consoles.

I mean really, it comes down to your feelings on the matter. if you think you will get your worth out of playing it on the pc over the consoles, and can spare the cash, why not buy it here too.
Or alternatively, wait and see how the pc version goes and buy it later in a sale or something.
Sega are pretty good about their stuff going on sale later down the road. Not like say, Activision.

I believe Sonic's been a PC boy back in 'Sonic CD' days.

And mmmm, I would if you're a turbo nerd and you're going to collect like myself. I bought a Collectors edition to open, and one to store away for 10+ years. The PC version now - 'cause I'm sure it'll be a better experience. (Hopefully if ported correctly)

To answer your question; it's only worth it if that's what you want.

1. Get it on PC.
2. Sell your 360 version. And use your 360 controller on PC.
3. Enjoy the better game graphics on PC.
4. ????
5. Winning

I think it's the best way and not having to spend a lot on the game.

Any last-minute advice, guys? I'm still on the fence. I stink at buying things. My credit card is in one hand and the other hand is tearing my hair out attempting to convince me to wait until a sale or something.

Buy it and ask for a refund on 360 or sell it to someone.

If you do decide to buy it get it at greenmangaming as mentioned. You get an extra $4 off from the Steam version and they send the Steam code right away. I bought my tonight and got it a few mins later. :)

I think I should wait for a sale. I am thinking that I should enjoy the 360 version for now, then buy the PC version this December if I liked the game enough to want both versions (as there will probably be a holiday sale).

The two games are old and I already have them, albeit not on Steam. Besides, in Generations' case, what's the point in buying the same game twice if I'm not sure I'll like it fully anyway since I have not finished it yet. I may consider it however if 3D Blast and S3&K have the Steam Overlay working in them, since I heard they don't. Do you know if the Overlay works?

Just wait till later tonight. I never pre-order games through steam - I'd rather wait to make sure there aren't major driver conflicts, see how well optimized the engine is, and to avoid any other unforeseen hick-ups. Even Rage had major problems with release, so it's not impossible that this will have them either.

sorry, but the overlay does not work, just tested it myself.

I'm gonna wait then. I can play 3D Blast and S3&K on an emulator if I wanna play them on PC, and there appears to be no other incentive to preorder this version. If it has the Casino Night preorder bonus from the console version, it is not advertised, and so will be available regardless of the time of purchase. If not, so be it. I'll see how the PC version is, and buy it if/when I want it.
