Looks like the SonicGenerations.exe file has been updated to v1.0.0.2 but after playing the game post-patch for a couple of hours I haven't noticed any differences. The bad slowdown on Chemical Plant is still there unfortunately.
*EDIT*
Configuration Tool is also updated to v1.0.0.2 so it may be a fix for the issue some people had launching it? Posts on the official SEGA forum seem to think so.

so.. there ARE actually people who are able to launch it right now, not getting that "currently available" message?!

the small config app it must have been the easiest quickest thing to fix.
the freezes and other bugs are inside the game engine and may take a little longer to fix.

The game runs great for me. Only issues were the hangups in Chemical Zone, but I think those are an engine issue all 3 version have :/

When I first ran the game, it crashed after the first level when I got to the stage select screen. It would also crash when I reloaded my save to that point.
What I did is check the game data for errors, Steam then downloaded 500 MB data again and it's been running flawlessly (aside from a few FPS drops in modern Chemical Plant) since then.

restart steam
like i haven't tried that. i even just did the clientregistry.blob thing...
nothing.
man, how i hate steam. should've tried out direct2drive instead this time.
either verifying the game cache or making sure read-only is disabled for all files just did it.
i'm sticking with the fact that i shouldn't have to do that and steam sucks though.
