Uh, how do you defeat the two trolls who are about to knock the doors down?

I'm playing on Normal in single player as the eleven girl.

I'm at the part where I have to prevent the doors from being smashed down by the two trolls. The thing is, I've not even come close to defeating these trolls. They just storm past, and in literally seconds it's all over.

After an hour I haven't even been able to defeat even one troll, let alone the both of them. I must've played that sequence fifty times. And I mean literally fifty times. At this point, it's pretty much game over.

Is there some kind of trick here that I'm missing. This just seems ridiculously difficult.

I assume you're talking about the siege at the drawven city. I just shoot them with arrows. But I do keep a "x1.6 damange against trolls" bow just for this sort of thing.

Holy moley can this game ever jarate you off (I have no idea what jarate means, but anytime I write an angry post at this forum almost all of my bad words get translated into jarate, or jarateed, so I might as well just type it in myself). Yeah, I'm seriously jarateed at the moment with this game.

How could the developer have such imbalanced fights? I'm talking throw your monitor through the window frustration here. And that's no joke. I just smashed my fist into my keyboard and hurt some of the keys.

It's OK Mikey...Skyrim is here to make it all better. Although, there seems to be a lot of angst in that camp as well. I strongly advise you start reading books; the mental graphics are unparalleled, and you don't need anything more beefy than a comfy chair and a good light :)

It's not that imbalanced. It's challenging.
I can kill a dragon in Skyrim with 20 iron arrows at level 5 (normal difficulty). I'm glad that WitN is old-school challenging.

As for the trolls, it took me 7 reloads. It depends on your skills. If you have a stun skill (Eradan with stunning shot), it becomes a lot easier. If you're Andriel you can usually draw aggro from the trolls by shooting at them with your staff. If you're Farin, try to use War Cry (with the aggro skill).

The key to defeat them is to either stun them or attract their attention. Try to slow them down and deal as much damage as possible before they reach the gate. If you're lucky, they won't even reach the gate and focus only on you.

I only had AoE skills but still managed to slow them down by standing in front of them. They quickly reached the gate but by that time one troll was already dead and soon the other troll would die as well.

Use weapons with a modifier versus trolls (you should always keep these weapons with you, part of this game is being prepared for encounters like these with good equipment), potions, all your abilities... throw everything you got at them. If you have good equipment, you should be able to kill a troll in less than a minute.
