... you landed then put the throttle to idle, let the head slow to idle, then put collective to just above hover (ground effect or more), then throttle to full, then get out?

I'm not home right now, so can't try it.

Who wants to be first with the answer?

I had posted this on the ToH official forum. But they don't want regular speculating discussions about nothing on their forum. So I'll post it here for to get away from such silly censorship.

I dunno why they thought it was unwelcome. You'd think they'd welcome fans to discuss and play over just about anything of their product. Yes it was in the "General Discussion" area of their forum. General mean to me anything product related. Another case of "Goderator Syndrome" maybe??

In fairness to Bothersome it's a funny and interesting idea, and I am all in favour of thought and discussion provoking posts.

I'm off to go try it ... from the top of the tallest skyscraper in the city!... :)

in reality you would probably get your head chopped off by the blades as the heli fell over sideways, or the whole thing would spin and the tail would chop you up like a blender. Either way, its very unlikely that it would leave the ground, and if it did it wouldnt be in a hover.

They also moderate here too! I think it was more the title of your post that got you locked - pet hate is none descriptive title. Most of the time you will get away with general comments and speculations, but the threshold for silliness is lower than in most forums. The good thing about the BI forums is that there is a lot of useful info in there, in a lot of forums it's 10% useful 90% drivel. I think they just like to keep it as factual as possible.

Having said that, it's an ineresting point. I think the helicopter would simply react as if you let go of the controls. The model does not care if you are in the chopper or not! I'm going to try it anyway though.

See? others ARE interested in the discussion. You guys just get so used to using your LART so much you kill off a good discussion for your very own product. If I were the CEO at BIS, I'd call you moderators into my office and explain that the law of the furums is to give you the power of moderation. But the SPIRIT of the forum is to increase exposure to our products and if you can't understand that, I'd have you removed.

But I posted it here so I could find the answer and drum a little interest in the discussion because we fans of your product like to play every now and then. I can't go home right now to try. But I was just moderately curios as to what the results would be. By the time I get home I might have forgot to even try.

But you made the mistake as I figured you would to come here and air it here. Is that the way you guys plan on creating more fan fair for your products?

Oh and may I also note, it matters a lot more what you say here than there. As there are a lot of passers by wondering if your product is worth the money. Seeing how you treat your fans on your forum, it might help make up a few of their minds.

edited: I may be in error thinking you are a moderator... If I'm in error, please forgive me.

no, i'm not a moderator.
this 'what would happen ifs' makes a better experiment then conversation, in my opinion.

Have you ever seen the TV show 'Dude, What Would Happen?'
You don't want to. :(

Going back to the original point, sadly it seems the collective is automatically reset to zero at the moment you issue the 'get out' command.

It is very good idea (in the event of accidental bail outs on the ground), but a bit of a shame that I can't deliberately leave myself stranded on a skyscraper with my helicopter spiralling to an undignified end somewhere below.

Come to think of it, I have never tried bailing out while in the air (call me strange!). I am guessing the command is disabled.

get in as co-pilot, 'take control', and you will be able to fly as well as 'eject'.

I was disappointed to find the collective reset itself. You would think with this being a "sim" title they would try and be as accurate as possible.

Are there any other quirky things you can do similar to this?

This is a stupid question. Go derp along in BF3, keep trying to do those barrel rolls I'm sure you'll get it eventually.

There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers like yours.
