Topic. I'm holding off buying it because the chances of Rebellion being packaged with Trinity are pretty high, as well as them both being on sale on launch..

But will Rebellion come to Steam?

Very likely, it will, eventually. Sins on Steam must have generated a ton of new sales.

But Stardock's probably just going to use their own distribution platform for now - it may be a while after Rebellion is truly released that Stardock agrees to let Steam offer it as well.

i read that they aren't tied to impulse since gamestop bought it... so most likely ill be on steam. however, i would get the game now as its amazing, and i believe you get $10 off the purchase of rebellion ( someone will have to confirm that, i saw it somewhere )

What's happening is that Rebellion will be distributed through Stardock itself rather than through a distribution platform like Steam or Impulse/Gamestop.

That discount ended a couple months ago. Sorry.

so is rebellion another expansion or what? i thought that "trinity" had 2 expansions packaged with it and that that was it for this game. are they making a 3rd expansion to the game or is this going to be another standalone game?

Rebellion will include all of the content of the original game and both expansions (aka Trinity) and the new Rebellion content. It's going to be like a Sins-2 in the sense that it will be a stand alone game that people can buy if they've never played Sins before.

Now, whether or not you can play (load up) any of the earlier versions of the game--the original Sins, Entrenchment, or Diplomacy alone if you only bought Rebellion (and if you haven't purchased the other games or Trinity in the past) I do not know. I'm sure it won't be an issue in terms of being able to find people to play with online, but it could be an issue for people who want to play with friends who don't own Rebellion.

Will be a issue for several of the good mods... pretty sure that a lot of mod will move to Rebellion once it is released... and with time, modders will stop updating version for sins, ent or dip due to the extra work...

As Rebellion, it is not only some more ship ( titan and corvette )... they move from shader 2.0 to shader 3.0 for improved graphic and particle effect... on request of the online players, it will become possible to share custom map... about map, triggers will be added to them ( lead to the possibility to create some basic scenario )...

Maybe Rebellion will have some other feature but since Stardock have not release a full list of features but only a few bit in several topic, who know... will know a little more once the beta testing start...

well galactic civ 2 was just added today, so good chance that future releases will be added too.

since I already own GC2 Ultimate Edition on impulse, i won't be buying it again on steam. But, if they add Steam Cloud support, I might just have to buy it.

Yarlen just said on the Sins forums that this will not be an option. Those who get Rebellion will only be able to play Rebellion.

Which is not a bad idea, I think, given how many people've been confused about "what's Trinity, I wanted Diplomacy!" "how come there's no one online in the Sins I bought" etc.

Larger than strike craft but smaller than frigates. Each faction will gain a single corvette-class ship in Rebellion. More than that we don't know.

In that case, when I go to spend the $40 on Rebellion, the $60 I spent for Sins, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy won't have been a complete waste since I'll still be able to load up Diplomacy and play online with those who haven't bought Rebellion.
