I am one of the legit buyers/owners of pre-ordered Skyrim!
I wanted to support a company for their great game and work and what did I get in return?
A ninja stealth patch which broke my game!
I don't have back up of my TEV.exe file. I have 8 gig of ddr3 memory and my game crashes every 2 mins after patch. Why i am forced to look for old TEV.exe all over the internet to make my game run again?
This is kinda ironic. I feel kinda punished for purchasing this game. Here is my $60 and please punish me and keep breaking my game with your stupid DRM.
Don't you guys feel the same?

I am happy for you that your game is working and not crashing after the patch and I am also happy that you are able to run it with FAA 4 gig enabled. Unfortunately I can't and my game crashes every 2 mins where my System Spec outperform min req!!!

I too love steam and Bethesda but OP has a point. If i had illegitimately acquired the game i might not have to deal with the DRM that is stopping me from playing the game.
I have crashes ~2-15 minutes (something to do with the steam overlay/achievements) and i've been playing through the exe file rather than through steam to fix it. Now....i have to do it through steam and i can't realistically play anymore....
Not exactly a great move for a game whose longevity will come from their community.

Lol @ Picard!
Haven't tried it out myself, I will in about 15 minutes.. If anything is broken I will be FistThroughWalls Raging, upgraded my damn PC for this!...
But no need to get frustrated in advance :P

Valve is VERY heavy handed about that subject, OP. It doesn't matter that you're obviously a paying costumer, they will sick the mods on you, at best.
Edit your post, OP, or nice known ya.

then why mine does not? Also I guess your main problem is you are too used to break the rules so it's hard to follow them from now on.
I see that time to time with new co-workers when we are forcing them to comment every single class and method. And they sounds quite like you: "I've needed that so why I should waste time on such thing, that's ineffective..."
I could get angry with occasionally CTDs but it has very quick start. And even if I got angry, it just won't FORCE me to pirate the game.

Yes, I agree with the OP completely. I was fortunate enough to see the uproar before getting on Steam and allowing it to break my FAA, but if I had I would be pretty upset. I can understand they did this without realizing the consequences, but a statement of some sort is in order, they just totally broke many valid peoples game for no reason. Game is still being blatantly pirated all over the web, only punishing legitimate customers at this point.

It seems that people with "high end" systems are the ones having the issue (counter-intuitive, I know), but it seems to be the case. I'd like to see if that theory holds true.

A Gaming Company released a patch that somehow broke YOUR game!
And You'll have to wait almost ONE to THREE days for a fix!!
And Not to mention that you just HAD to suggest your choice to torrent the game.

i5-2500k, 4GB RAM, GTX570 1280MB, Win7-64bit. Ultra-high + few quality adjustments in ini.
Experiencing CTD once a 1-6h. Causing by some memory leak, so fast-traveling brings it faster. Exploring/dungeoneering makes it stable.

My guess you are not familiar with Moding or you have never played Elder Scrolls of oblivion where modding community kept it alive up to this date with amazing work, support, mods and bug fixes. Moding is not pirating!!

I do hope the upcoming "updates" won't be like this.
It does seem like it's a steam problem, and not bethesda.
My message to Steam (spoiler to protect sensitive "steam f.anboys" from the content):
This is very damaging for them. If it's a really great game, and I have to use steam, then I won't refuse to play it just because of steam. I will hovewer use another service if they have an acceptable deal. I do prefer Impulse over steam for it's less restrictiveness.
Especially being able to install game files independently on where steam is installed. I have an SSD which has limited space, so I Install most important games there, but want to avoid less frequently played games (like Total War).
These mistakes are even worse though. Implementing an update without warning and with no visible record is very ugly. Especially when this causes problems. It also makes it more difficult for users to figure out what's wrong.
Censoring f.anboys without the dot is also something I don't like, although you may try to present it as something funny.
I managed to fix the game by going to:
Game library -> right click Skyrim and select properties ->
local files -> verify integrity of game cache.
Make sure the autolauncher of Skyrim is not running. It detected 1 corrupt filed and reloaded this, which fixed the problem.

and? when I have problem with my game on my system, I will try to solve the problem ON MY SYSTEM. I'm not FORCED to use illegal way. If unmod the game helps, then I will do it. If turning off AA helps I will do it.
It gets some minus points and I will hope for patch, but here is your alternative. I really have problem with people who "don't have any other choice then to pirate the game then".
I've never have any unsolvable problem. I have to run DXHR with DX9. Need to get used to some clunky controls from Darksiders or Two Worlds II. I was able to get Dead Island look at least average. But it is doable. Really no need to troll on forums about lousy this and crap that.
If you consider yourself intelligent, do what being intelligent means: adapt. If piracy is the only way you can see...

I could have murdered him but I have decided not to. Instead of that I bough the same car as he has. But mine doesn't work properly (after some adjustments), so the only way left is I kill him anyway and take his.
Still doesn't sound like someone ready for jail? :)

Actually seems to have been the better option compared to this garbage. Before this "update" it would crash to monitor having no signal and having to hard reset my system rendering it effectively unplayable for days since the release I've been waiting for THAT to be fixed I've tried everything to fix it myself, really. NOW the damn thing won't even start.
Bravo to the genius/geniuses responsible for such trash.
I'll think twice before going "OMG I NEED TO BUY THIS" anymore.

I love steam and bethesda so dont really see the problem.
They removed options from people without warning and without recourse. That's pretty ♥♥♥♥ty. Glad it doesn't personally effect you, but whether you're a big fan of the companies involved or not you should see the issue. Even if you had updates turned off for Skyrim it forced this new DRM on you.
DRM that only hurts paying customers by the way. The pirates can use the 4GB patch just fine.

well ive played skyrim through steam from the first day it was out, worked perfectly, now because of this update i cant play at all, I see what the guys saying though, the pirates of the world dont have this problem and they didnt pay a penny, we pay full price and we get problems, its a lot silly.

I had the patch download earlier today. Indeed I tried the launcher, clicked play, and it just kept returning me to the launcher again.
However, a simple restart of Steam cause something ELSE to download (perhaps patch redownload due to not doing so correctly first time around). Now it works fine.
High end PC here, no issues since.
Obviously the OP doesn't now what PC gaming entails. A PC is not an Xbox; there are tens of thousands of possible configurations, and there are bound to be a few which software simply doesn't 'like'.
There's about 50 of these same threads. Give it a rest or post in one of those.

Yeah we do. When companies learn to stop ♥♥♥♥ing our games over with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ patches, which console players never experience (because piracy doesn't exist on consoles ), then we will stop cluttering the ♥♥♥♥ing forums.
Let me describe how frustrated I am right now:

Yeah than why the hell did you bring this thread back where nobody posted in for 7 days? Like you said there are already 100 of threads that are the same as this one. This issue has been fixed for most people by using this patch
4GB LAA (http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013)
This patch will even work with steam activated
And have you guys looked at your other games in steam? If a steam game can be run without using steam, it is a mistake, and you can expect them to fix it. Dunno but i think i heard somewhere that the same thing happened with fallout NV. So perhaps it is Bethesda that releases the versions with unencrypted .exe so that the modding community can use those for some of their tweaks. And after some days pass they update it so that it only runs through steam, like they have to.
If the patch i posted didnt work, just use the old prepatch .exe....how you get it is your problem
