View Full Version : Game not saving?

I played about 3 hours earlier today. I took a little break, exited out of the game. Walked away.
I come back a few hours later and when I try to continue on, I notice that the menu shows as if I haven't played at all. Trying to start again starts me back to the very beginning of the game.
Steam shows that I've played this title for 3 hours.

Make sure you're logged in to Games for Windows Live. Otherwise you can't save.

You have to create either an offline (local) or online profile with Games for Windows LIVE in order to save.

steam says it's syncing but it then it fails to sync

Where do I go to download Windows Live? I see the icon on the main menu of the game, but when I click it does nothing.

Yup, I'm getting the same thing. I'm trying to uninstall GFWL and GFWL Marketplace right now and reinstall them. There is an error when I try to update the Marketplace though. I might have to update Windows... hnnnnnng
Edit: the Errorception goes deeper... it had to do with my Windows update not working. I used this (http://www.techiecorner.com/112/error-number-0x80070424-in-windows-update-solution/), and now GFWL pops up when I start AC.

I don't get any errors, and when I launch from the directory vice Steam GFWL loads and I sign in. My save game is gone - or at least it doesn't show up loading this way. I hope I didn't just lose 5 hours of game time.

Yeah, me too. I played for about 3+ hours earlier, but it looks like I'll just have to replay from the very beginning again. Which really, really sucks!
I thought Steam was saving my save_game to the cloud the whole time. But come to find out... that didn't happen.
I tried downloading and installing the Games For Windows Live (gfwl.exe) onto my PC but when I try to log in, it says there is an authentication error. All of my log in information is correct. I have an Xbox 360 w/Gold membership, so I tried using my login information from that. That doesn't work despite my Xbox Live gamertag appearing at the top of the GFWL log in screen.
I've since tried to reset my password, but am I awaiting a response from M$.

Yeah I'm not really getting much help through support. They keep telling me to take the picture of my CD Key. But i'm not having issues with a game or CD key... I just can't log into Steam. I'm trying to reset my password but I don't understand the answer to the secret question that they send me in the password reset email.
It asks: What did customer support last reset your passphrase to? I've never contacted customer support before! So this has never happened and I don't have an answer for this.
The reply they gave back to me was to take a picture of a CD key. How is that suppose to help me?
