Title sums it up. Went to install, Steam hung up on installing Dual Core Optimizer. Eventually cancelled installation. Now game does nothing when I click play, just shows the preparing to launch box indefinitely, it's whack.
Anybody have any suggestions? The Dual Core Optimizer is already installed on my PC, so I can't imagine why this is the problem I'm having. Geez, all these people crying cause they can't play in DX11 would be having a fit right now, as for me...

I have the same issue. Wait for it to install/launch, and nothing.
Very frustrating.
Same problem here. Why am I even downloading anything to do with AMD when I don't have that chipset to begin with?
I am annoyed I can't play this game now.

I just uninstalled it. I don't have an AMD platform either and after some quick Googling, I found a similar issue was occurring with DNF. Probably just a bug (surprise!).
Edit - Launched from the .exe and it now works, even when launching through Steam.

I closed steam and re-opened it, which resolved this for me. Oddly.

I was wondering why it was trying to install a dual core optimizer, as I have a quad.
Anyway, I think it was already installed from Batman AA or something. But it definitely froze up and I couldn't launch the game at all.
I got the game running eventually. I restarted Steam. I uninstalled the game (made a backup so I didn't have to DL again), then I uninstalled the dual core optimizer from my pc. Reinstalled Batman, and tried launching the game first, rather than the PC configuration tool. It went right to the activation screen. Had no problems with GFWL or anything else.
Talk about jumping through some hoops.
I don't know why it wants to install a dual-core optimizer when the game appears to be strictly single-threaded.

I discovered a fix for this. I went into Programs and Features and uninstalled the the AMD Dual Core Optimizer, then restarted the PC. The game worked fine after that.
Hope this works for you.

For future reference: after downloading the game you can enter the game's main directory and find the redist folder.
Inside this folder are all extra installers such as Visual C++, Direct X, GFWL, Physx, ect.
Simply remove the AMD Optimizer from this folder before installing the game to avoid dealing with this.
No one on planet earth could be so dumb enough to install DUAL CORE OPTIMIZER AMD on Intel CPU sytem.
Let alone auto-install through any clients.
I bat my eyebrows, cannot even believe it through steam.
