this game is seriously demanding i have

Intel I7 2600k @ 4.4ghz
Asus GTX 590 3gb
8GB ram

and i put all the settings on the highest i can and i can barely get 25fps. is this the same for everyone else?

your doing something wrong, maxed out.

What settings and what resolution are you playing on? I have an i7 975 and 6970 in crossfire (yes, crossfire is broken), but I'll see my fps dip into the 40's every once in awhile. How are you able to maintain 60 fps?

you sure your maxed out? i went to performance and manually set everything to the highest settings possible barely got 30 if i use the default ultra i get a solid 60.

while writing the above sentence i tested some settings and found out what was eating my frames was supersampling

That's odd, I get 60+ at all times on my pc, though mine is all AMD based so that might be the reason, the game might prefer amd cores to yours.

yeah, maxed out, V-sync on, 1920x1080.

Maybe cause i have so much RAM?

CCC, running 1000Mhz GPU clock,
1600Mhz memory clock,

also not forcing AA through CCC, thats about it and im not dropping..

I can max the HD games @60fps, but I can play BFE at near max settings without going under 20fps, it's definitely more demanding; tuning down normalmap gpu memory and antialiasing helped significantly.

Yeah, I don't see how it's possible to maintain 60 fps in this game on ultra. I just overclocked my cpu to 4.0, set everything to ultra, and I just played the beginning of the the Broken Wings level, and I see my fps dip to under 50 fps. And as a side note, I get better frame rates in Battlefield than this game, so something appears wrong here.

Yeah, I don't get how other people are running this at 60 fps on ultra. Maybe we're both using the wrong drivers for our cards? Who knows...?

Yes, I noticed this as well. Graphics are not top-notch (I dare to say even worse than in SSHD), yet the requirements are incredibly high. Someone wrote they made significant optimizations. Well, I'd like to see them, because so far I'm having slideshow. Which is interesting because SSHD can run on my laptop smooth as butter.

I can maintain 30-40 fps on a i7 1.73 ghz with 4 GB RAM and a nVidia425.

The game complained about my drivers prior to launching, but the game runs fine after I lowered the resolution to 1024x768 and tweaked some of the settings. (No, I did not bother updating my drivers).

One helpful tweak I've found are most of the CPU tweaks. I think my CPU is the best of my laptop, but turning the CPU settings to low does not sacrifice a whole lot. I think it only modifies how many dead bodies you see and whatnot. So, I traded off CPU tweaks for texture sharpness for my GPU settings. I still see plenty of gibs and dead bodies, so I'm happy on this regard.

Really. The same settings in SSHD give me 60 FPS, but only 22 FPS in SS3.

Yes. That most likely plays a large role in it. Sam3 is very memory demanding.

Win 7 64 bit, i7-950 @ 3.06, Nvidia GTX460 1GB @ 1920x1080, 6GB RAM.

Auto detect gives CPU:Ultra, GPU Speed:High, GPU Memory:High

25-60 FPS. Vsync On.

I changed Max 3D Rendering to 2.0 MPIX, AA to 4x and AF to 16x.

But you know what? They are just numbers. The game feels smooth and looks nice and I am enjoying playing it.

Optimisation will come.

Now, this is not a dig at the op, but why do people moan nowadays if they cannot crank everythign to max on a new game?

The game works fine for many on MAX.

Driver updates help a lot along with general optimisation post launch.

my i5/GTX570 is holding very well on ULTRA. Don't push settings you don't understand. I can make Morrowind unplayable on the best rigs today just by wrong settings (without any visual improvements).

All the settings? Including supersampling? You're basically quadrupling your resolution with that on. With MSAA, FXAA and SSAO on top of that, you're never going to get a playable framerate.

Win7 64bit NThe game runs on my backup:
P4 3.2Ghz
2 GB ram
8800GT 512
WinXP Sp3

It takes a good while to load on such old equipment but I get around 20-25fps on average once it's running and its more than playable and still looks nice on low. So to answer you question, yes, it should run just don't expect high performance. I miss my main rig.:(:( Why did it have to die now.

Untweaked auto config gets it runnings 40 to 70 fps on my sons new rig.

i put everything on at the highest settings possible and got about 25FPS ive installed an extra 8gb of ram i ordered last week so will try the highest settings again hopefully can break the 30fps mark

people complain because after spending about £1700 on the best parts available you should be able to play everything on the highest settings. i can run BF3, Skyrim and crysis 2 on the highest settings including things like high res textures and directx 11 patches

EDIT: just tried the extra 8gb and got past the magic 30fps mark at some points but only got a few extra frames guess its back to ultra settings :(

just because you can turn the game up ridiculously high doesn't mean you should. You don't really need enormous supersampling and such.

It doesn't mean they did anything wrong just because they let you crank it up to 11.

Really. The same settings in SSHD give me 60 FPS, but only 22 FPS in SS3.

so a 2009 remake of a 2001 game, both of which weren't visually impressive for their time, gives you better performance than a 2011 game with a new engine and vastly improved lighting effects, textures and models? you don't say...

Take a cookie for the wonderful sarcasm! :D

Also, maxing out all AA modes is the dumbest thing you can do. Maybe if you spend some time to read on what AA is and what is the difference between different AA modes is, you won't feel so bad. Maybe!

Setting everything to just Ultra is NOT maxed out by any means. This game has a hell of a lot of options to tweak and turn on even after "Ultra" is on. You need to go to Customize after you select Ultra to tweak the options individually.

And yea don't expect to run 8x AA + 4x Super Sampling. Not going to work for 95% of you.

And yet none of the games you listed allow you to enable Super Sampling AA in game... Why? Because it kills video performance like nothing else!
Croteam however is nice enough to include it in the game menu anyhow. It's your choice to use it or not.

I think I get around 29-60FPS (mostly hovers around 50-60), depending on where I am.

The FPS seems to drop a lot when standing in grass (not sure of a way to cut back on).

All settings Ultra & maxed apart from AA (4x), Shadow AA (0x), and SSAA (0x).

Definitely has lower performance than HD that's for sure.

i7 965x @ 3.20GHz (Refuse to Overclock)
12GB OCZ Low Voltage 1033MHz (7-7-7-20) (Refuse to Overclock)

Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
BenQ XL2410T @ 1920x1080 120Hz

If you're getting low fps. Here's a Trick - Set everything to Lowest & go from there. Managed to get my Friend's FPS rate from 20 to 60 while still looking great this way at 1920x1200.

Might get a small graphics upgrade to a MSI GeForce GTX 580 3GB Lightning Extreme Edition while I'm waiting an age to get 2 GTX680's & Ivy Bridge next year..

In multiplayer with my phenom ii x4 965/560 ti it's usally 80-130 fps, in singleplayer it drops down to the low 30s at times. At 1080p with a bunch of custom settings(medium shadows, no ambient occlusion, no AA), ultra cpu, ultra gpu memory.
