I searched this forum and Google, and hadn't seen anyone report this. Figured I'd put this out there for anyone that finds this as annoying as I do.

If you go to where you installed steam and look in the steamapps\common\batman2\BmGame\Movies, you'll find 2 files named "StartupNV.swf" and "Startup.swf". Rename them both to something else, for instance I renamed mine to "StartupNV.swf.bak" and "Startup.swf.bak" without the quotes.

Now when you start the game it loads up directly to the title screen.

+1.

I hate games that make you sit through a 2 minute unskippable intro telling you everybody who made it. I never mind the first time, but after that, it's silly. Some games change it so you can skip it, or skip after the first time you see it, which is great. For me, this fix seems to work for many games. :) Thanks.

I did the skip intro thing for Arkham Asylum, but I still had to wait for GWFL to sign my account in, so either way I was stuck waiting. So this time I'll just man up and suffer the 1-2 minutes of opening credits. But kudos to the OP nonetheless of providing the option to others.

To the top, would love to know!

Even waiting for GFWL to log in, i'd rather have the main menu there then annoying sound/logos

Okay solved it. Real simple.

Go to your "Steam\steamapps\common\batman2\BmGame\Movies" folder

Locate these two files

Startup.swf
StartupNV.swf

Move them or rename them. Create two .txt files, rename them Startup.swf and StartupNV.swf.

Launch the game and it go directly to the menu.

A better way is to go to

c:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham City\BmGame\Config\

And open up bmengine.ini with Notepad.

Then find the section "[FullScreenMovie]" and change bForceNoMovies=FALSE to bForceNoMovies=TRUE

Save the file, and close Notepad. Then rightclick on the file, click "Properties", and then tick "Read only".

Click OK, and launch the game. No more intros.

I prefer Brinkman's solution; setting the .ini file to read only prevents changes to the graphics settings when starting the game.

Thanks

--CUT--

I know it's an old thread but it appears in google for people wanting to disable the intro movies, so I have some new info and a warning.

Firstly it is safe to use Proto Persona/Brinkman's .swf file solution, so do that if you want all the intro movies disabled without affecting any in-game cutscenes.

But it is NOT safe to use #DEADC0DE's .ini file editing solution! This method completely breaks the early game (you cannot start a new game) and possibly some later segments too for existing saves. Adding -nomoviestartup to the game's launch options in Steam is a better idea but still has the same effect as the .ini method (breaks the game). This is because those methods disable ALL movies including the cutscene at the very start just before the first Catwoman segment, and this causes the game to freeze displaying a black screen. But the OP's .swf method works fine, I tested it quite a bit.

Had to post here to say that Proto Persona's and Brinkman's suggestions work for non-Steam versions of the game too. Gratz guys!

Thank you very much. I started looking for solution right after I started up the game for a second time. Those intros are really long and boring. Also the number of DRM's in this game is pretty ridiculous. Hope that developers will bring both Batman games without this awful garbage on GOG. :D
The game itself is great, but those unskipable logos at the start and most importantly Securom + GFWL don't bring anything more than a really painful experience for the legal buyers.

None of this worked for me. I can not even get the game to start. So much for the video test.
