View Full Version : Please update Broken Sword 2 to the remastered version Revolution sent you

They did it months ago. They said they are in the dark as to why you haven't updated it. We are in the dark as well. It goes on sale now and then and more people get it, not realizing that it is the original DOS version run via ScummVM because other sites have the remastered version. The longer it sits, more people will enter into this issue. What real issues could there be with such a small game, especially after the first remastered Broken Sword went well? If there were real issues, wouldn't you have talked to Revolution about them? Come on, just update it.

Revolution says that all is ready from months and the remastered version would be available soon. When?

Steam Staff, please, say something.
Thanks

Remastered BS2 already released, but not in steam. I guess, are they try to make same deal as GOG in Steam? I mean, at GOG all BS2 owner received remastered BS2 for free.

I agree, the only reason why I'm holding buying the entire series via Steam is that I'm waiting for the Remastered version of BS2 or at least a word that everyone who got the regular version before will get the Remastered version for free.

I've just bought it on steam, but I'm thinking about to buy it on GOG, maybe in some Christmas sale...It's impossible that It's keeping so much time!

Just buy the remastered version from GoG.

it's $2.99 on GoG right now (£1.98). I just got it as I'd rather pay 2 quid than wait for steam to pull their thumb out their ♥♥♥♥.

i find it hard to believe they've had no updates from valve in all this time, and considering the population of steam users, that they wouldn't care to solve this issue, or to communicate the reason for the delay to their (potential) customers...

Considering the sale right now, i'm sure there's more than a few people wondering this very thing, but no updates anywhere from anyone ?

So the version of BS2 here _isn't_ the remastered one? That's bizarre. Thanks for people pointing that out; I was about to buy the triple pack, but since I have nos 1 and 3 on GOG anyway, I may as well buy no. 2 there.

Now I feel stupid, I bought the triple pack a couple of days ago. I hope I won't have to buy BS2 again...

Steam staff, please update this game!

Although I want it via Steam I think I will go with GOG as well.
Yeah it's small change but it's Valve lost...

WE need to send Valve a ticket about this issue.

I created a ticket at "Steam Support" but all they told me was that all Steam games are automatically updated and I should contact the game publisher...

I replied that there is an updated version and it is on sale on GOG, for instance. I referred them to this thread and told them that if the game was supposed to be automatically updated then something went wrong. If I receive another reply I'll post here.

I think Steam must fix this issue. Automatic update is a sale point of Steam.

Well since I own none of them I am going to grab the pack on Steam and hope they update it by the time I get around to wanting to play it. Meantime, I'll just put the second game on my GoG wishlist for future reference if Steam drops the ball on this.

Argh... It's so frustrating talking to Steam support about this issue. They are just giving me some generic answers like this:

The information on the Steam Storefront is the only available information at this time.

Please refer to the Steam News section for the latest news and updates on upcoming Steam titles and content.

It's like talking to a brick wall.
Do you guys have any other ideas?
Perhaps my english isn't as good as I thought and I couldn't make myself understood... Maybe someone else would like to create a ticket? It would add more pressure too.

It's scandalous...Now I've bought it on GOG....3$ and it's DRM-Free...Goodbye steam.

I've emailed Valve as well about this BS2 remastered issue and finally after 11 days I got a replay from one of their "support" ppl:

Hello yesyouarethatawesome,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Please refer to the Steam News section for the latest news and updates on upcoming Steam titles and content.

Thank you for your interest.

My Magic 8-Ball would've given me a better answer, it's really no use.
But keep this issue alive so they might notice...

DirtyHarry50

But it form gog.com then just add on steam, for protest!

Well I already bought it on Steam so I should not have to buy it again elsewhere just to get the latest version of it.

This has dragged on long enough that I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for any update. When I get around to this game I probably will wind up buying it again from GOG. My bad for not doing my homework before the purchase. Live and learn...

Well the changes between BS2 original and remastered isn't a whole lot. The only ones I noticed was those character boxes, a short comic, a new menu and a hint system (some of them are really funny in a weird way).

Apart from the comic there aren't any story additions nor any graphics upgrades. Personally I don't think it is worth another playthrough when steam updates, so I stick with the normal version. (since both have small sound bugs)

^ Also higher resolution, probably better compatability and bitrates.

Have they still not done it, nice work Valve.

Jackolas
02-08-2012, 08:49 AM
They also haven't put Broken Sword 4 up DESPITE having it available.

Nice work Valve indeed. Too busy putting the same games on sale over and over and making "hats" for TF2, no doubt.

Yes I'm cynical.

Interesting how Revolution is just as in the dark about why it hasn't updated as we are and everyone is speaking about it openly and nobody is getting a response. Just shameful, especially since it keeps going on sale and the page for it now even shows screens from the remastered version. Utterly shameful.

They've had it since January of last year but it is coming "real soon now?" lol

Umm, not sure what to make of that. I guess hope springs eternal so maybe? As I think I mentioned earlier in this thread (I forget now) it is at least available on GOG so if by the time I get around to this it still isn't updated at least I know where the newer one can be found. It would be a wee bit irksome to need to pay for something a second time to get the newer version of it though.

Only reason I can think of would be if they are trying to get the fourth game on Steam, and only want to update the second game to Director's Cut then.

Just another example of "Valve time" at work. Seriously though, do they hate money? Just upload the damn thing already!

Do we have to get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ petition going or something? This is ridiculous.

same her, but i can't start it from steamclient, got an error "Dieses Spiel ist derzeit nicht verfügbar (corrupted game files)" (in english something like "game not aviable yet (corrputed game files)").

But if I go to the steamapps folder, i can start BrokenSword2.exe by hand and then it's the remastered version of broken Sword II.
