Think about it. You get your own little avatar for you to customize and do whatever. Of course, this only works if there are methods for you to obtain clothes and accessories, but hey, many AAA games are already offering Team Fortress 2 promos, why can't they create some items for our avatars as well? Steam can create a store where clothings and items are sold, so it's not like steam can't profit from this idea. But of course, ideas don't matter unless it's approved/ critized by you guys, so what flaws do you guys see?

This concept sounds a lot like the Xbox 360 avatar. Here's a quote from a recent article on Cracked.com (http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-10-most-insulting-things-video-games-charged-money-for/) relating to Xbox 360 avatars:

Xbox Avatar Items are a worse way to spend money than hiring a hitman on yourself, because at least then the world will be saved from having you in it. And a professional is being paid for actually doing something.

True, but as silly as it sounds, people have always liked making an image of their own and customizing any characters they have. Hell, look at Team Fortress 2, some of their hats go for a couple hundred dollars each!

Yea some items should be obtainable for free, but of course the most outrageous items will have to be bought or earned through games :)
