Keeping Save files before formatting?

Hello everyone,
Will copying my Skyrim folder inside My Games will before formatting my HD and then putting it back to the same location after formatting will allow me to continue from where I left off? The reason I'm asking is because there's a lot of talk going in about corrupted save files and such, I'd hate to lose 40 hours of gameplay.

I'm pretty sure its yes since there are some save files from skyrimnexus that you can download

If they work before you format, they will still work after you formatted and put them back. :) They don't break just by copying them on a stick.
