Lasers and tactical lights shouldn't affect your teammates. It's annoying, has griefing potential, and can hinder fighting and unity.

They already addressed this and said it would take some serious coding to not allow the lights to affect teammates and thus is not a viable option. The thing they should do is make it set to off by default and then make people turn them on.

I believe they should. It may be an inconvenience sometimes but it's also an inconvenience for the enemy as well. It's a immersion factor and adds immensely to the experience.

I think the whole effect needs to be toned down a bit, but it should affect both equally.

As for why the lights need toning: does it really need explaining?

I had a tac-light on my M4 in Iraq. It did a pretty good job of lighting a dark room. It DID NOT blind people in broad daylight from 50m away. If we had battery-powered lights that could do that, the war would be over. Also, find me a red laser that blinds people from 75m away. I've got a green laser pointer that I had attached to my M4 that will blind the living ♥♥♥♥ out of someone, but we don't use those much because it tells everyone else where you are if there is dust or smoke around. This thing is BRIGHT. It's great for PowerPoint briefs, though. Stars love it.

Not to mention a laser would have to be pointed directly at your eye, not anywhere on your body, which seems to be the case in BF3.
