View Full Version : NBA2K12 won't start

I can't get this game to start. After clicking Play, a pop up window opens like it's about to start, then it closes. I've tried reinstalling the game. I've tried verifying game file integrity. Nothing appears to be wrong. Any ideas?:confused:
All of my other games work fine

Managed to fix by going to C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\nba 2k12
Then right click on the nba2k12 application ->properties->compatibility. Then run in Vista mode. Click on checkbox for run as administrator.

I'm having the same issue, and I tried what you suggested, but now instead of silently crashing, it begins to actually load but then I get the "NBA 2K12 has stopped working" message, it checks for a solution, then just gives me the one option to close the program. :(

Have tried everything that was suggested on the forums, i.e., changing compatibility, changing launch options, checking whether itīs being blocked by AV/firewall. The result - the game still wouldnīt start after all this... Iīm losing hope to play it this year... Does anybody know if the official patch is planned or something?...:(

I sent two tickets in regards to the exact same problem as this, because I was getting really impatient with Steam considering I've been trying to play this game for 9 days now, to no avail.
I received a reply to my first ticket, eventually, and the list of possible fixes they sent me didn't work. Didn't even make a difference.
I received a reply to my second ticket this evening, and wouldn't you just know it, it was a generic, copy and pasted reply, containing exactly the same list of fixes as was given to me in my first ticket. Well played Steam Support.
I understand that they have a lot of questions to deal with, but they would help themselves a lot if they put effort in to trying to personally help people with their game problems instead of just palming customers off with some generic crap just so that they can get onto the next customer.
I'm so angry with them right now. I hope one of the staff members are reading this.
