I usually stick to charcoal and graphite pencils for my art but I am venturing into a lot of wall decor paintings. I started this piece just trying to get a feel of composition, colors, arrangement, etc. I pretty much listened to M&S the entire time and the whole piece ended up turning into a tribute to them and their amazing song Hold on to What You Believe. The entire lyrics (with the exception of a few covered up from "tiles") is what all that text is. I wanted to break up the text with something and decided to go with a traditional Irish lion head (also because a lion head is the symbol of their album).
Not sure how long it took, it was spread out over the span of a year. I had a child pretty much right when I started it and didnt resume it till a few days ago. I would estimate somewhere around 15-20 hours. Entire painting, with the exception of tiny touch ups, was done with a roller brush to achieve texturing. Painting measures 36 inches tall by 24 inches wide on a 1 1/2 inch thick gallery wrapped canvas.
let me know what you guys think im open to all comments, both positive and negative. Thanks for looking!
