I've been reading about Senate bill 1867 and all the information I've been getting is how it will completely strip the American people of their freedom of speech and the military will be able to detain and even execute anyone who speaks out about the American government. However, I've read the section of the bill that supposedly gives the military this power (sec. 1031), and it says the authority of the military to detain individuals does not extend to American citizens or legal resident aliens. Despite this I've still had people convinced this is just another example of American tyranny at it's best.

With that being said, I'm not looking for this to turn into some conspiracy theory thread, you can take that crap somewhere else. I'm simply interested in knowing more about this bill from anyone who has read/heard about it, and whether or not the implications of it are as serious as people think them to be.

There's no such thing as a law lower than the Constitution that can take away anyone's First Amendment rights.

Imagine Gabe berating a Valve employee for having his tie pulled down a couple of inches and the top button of his shirt undone...

Couldn't do it could 'ya? Of course not because it would never, ever happen. Just like some basic federal law erasing a Constitutional Amendment.

Of course, just because something's illegal doesn't mean the government can't do it. That's like the entire founding principle of the CIA.
