Forgive me for not really being that savvy w/joysticks.

I have a logitech extreme 3d pro. When i'm flying the heli and i twist the joystick left or right, it always returns the direction the heli is pointing back to center (opposite of what i'm trying to accomplish)

It doesn't seem to matter what settings i try changing nothing seems to work. I'm constantly battling the direction the heli is pointing. Is this normal? I've tinkered with some other games with helis (bad company 2) and this doesn't happen.

Maybe i need to change something in the logitech config software? i haven't tried to force/change anything there yet.

If you are flying in anything other than Expert mode then this might be the auto-trim system trying to 'help' you.

Also while you are flying at a reasonable speed, the 'rudder' should only be used to make fine adjustments to counter the torque effect that the main rotor has (which causes the helicopter to spin left or right). If you are in a hover, then twisting the joystick should work as you expect.

If you are trying to perform a fast turn then you will need to apply 'rudder' (which is actually controlling power to the tail rotor), collective, left/right and forward/reverse cyclic together to maintain the turn and maintain altitude.

In normal flight, the helicopter will try and turn as this is simply the physics of how a rotary craft works. This effect will be magnified if you increase or decrease the collective. You have to constantly manage the power to the tail rotor to counter this. The auto-trim system tries to do a lot of this for you, but can be more of a hindrance than a help at times as you end up fighting against it rather than controlling the craft.

So, in short what you are experiencing is pretty much expected behaviour!
