There's a problem with your demo, I was able to play mine perfectly fine, started it up, selected my difficulty, chose my weapons and played the first stage.

I think you may be unable to find the controls. If you don't press anything on the main menu for a few seconds it goes into demonstration mode, which is just a video of gameplay.

This game, like many Japanese games, uses Z, X, and C as the main keys for game play. Z and the arrow keys should be used to navigate the menus.
