Before you call me crazy, yes, I know this shouldplay way better with a Mouse, but there's an achievement that ask for us to get a perfect score in the 1-1 level using a gamepad, how do I configure this?

I already activated the thing in the options but it's not working. I guess only Xbox pad support? Since I'm using a Logitech one.

Thanks in advance.

I'm using an Xbox pad, just had to activate it in the options menu.

It's annoying tho, I always miss a few blocks. Screw controllers in this game.

Haha, they really expect a perfect with a gamepad? Now that's sadistic.

You don't have to do the whole level. Just the easiest part.

How we can enable other than XBOX Pad? I haven't got this console or PAD for it.

Someone posted a possible solution here (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=27027202&postcount=534). You need an Xbox gamepad emulator. Unfortunately that doesn't work for me, the game always crashes when it's active.

This achievement is best described as navigating a slug through space.

Still it would be nice if it supported the logitech rumblepad. Otherwise don't go calling it gamepad support, but just call it xboxpad support :P

Is there any way to use "fake" controller, since i don't have any pad? :(

Hmm, well I did use the X360 gamepad emulator to configure my Rumblepad's controls, but the game still didn't register for some reason. Any help with that anyone?

I also have a trusty Logitech Cordless Rumblepad and would like to see 'real' (i.e. not brand-specific) gamepad support.

I got the achievement with a wireless X360 controller. It was pretty frustrating. The first time I got it, Steam went down so it didn't even register so I had to do it a second time. Took a bunch of restarts :P Pretty satisfying after you get it though.

Well that's great, the game only supports Xinput gamepads and when you try to emulate one it crashes.

I still don't understand why developers use Xinput instead of the old DirectInput.

Getting the same problem.
Using a Nyko Airflo FX that I use xinput to play Skyrim with but with BIT.TRIP BEAT it doesn't register any inputs.

I was able to use my Logitech Rumblepad 2 with the x360ce software. It didn't work on the first try, but after enabling xinput9_1_0.dll (Options -> Installed Files): no more problems.

Thanks, that worked for me.

I also just got my Logitech Dual Action using the emulator, and got the achievement. :)

HOWEVER, it should be noted that one should use the newest version of the x360ce, found here: http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/downloads/list

You also need to do as icezolation says, and enable xinput0_1_0.dll (the program will auto-create this file when you check the box).

I managed to get it with an old Sidewinder from who knows when. Make sure you use the link that canadademon gave and enable xinput9_1_0.dll; it didn't work for me otherwise. And make sure not to touch the mouse after clicking restart at all--if you have a laptop, try to only touch the mouse button and not the touchpad if you need to use the mouse to restart.

After doing all of the above, I still can't get my controller to work.
Using the Logitech Rumble 2 also.
Any ideas?

Yea, bone head developers felt it was better to use XInput instead of DirectInput. Use a 360 Gamepad emulator. You have to wonder what was going on at the HQ.. "Yea lets make this achievement require a gamepad" despite they support an incredibly small amount of gamepads. gg.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy an xbox controller tomorrow.

[Edit] Turns out my problem is with the game itself. I bought an xbox controller today, which I am happy to say works with all my games which previously my controllers did not. Except Bit.Trip Beat. This game won't detect any of my controllers. When I work out a solution I'll post again in case anyone else has the same problem.

[Edit 2] Ran in XP compatibility mode and it detected my controller. If anyone is still having problems, give that a try.

It is important to note that with canadademon's link to the emulator, you MUST extract it to the bit.trip beat folder in steam.

I also have the Logitech Rumblepad 2, and this worked for me. It was pretty challenging, which is rather funny since I managed to beat the third level, Growth, with only one mistake a few days ago. Damn! It got me to position five on the leaderboards (http://steamcommunity.com/stats/BitTrip/leaderboards/19755). There you have it, if 308,718,510 is the perfect score, a single missed beat can mean 144,199,930 points less in the end.
