Game.exe has stopped working

Is anyone else getting the 'game.exe has stopped working' when trying to launch the game after getting the new free holiday DLC?

Re-verifying the game doesn't help getting it working as it always says 2 files failed to validate and will be re-acquired.

Just Downloaded the game and is says Game.exe has stopped working. I re-installed the game twice. I wanted to try to get the achievement for the Steam promotion but alas this looks to be a bust. I wouldn't waste your time with this game, from the forums it sounds like this game is more trouble than it is worth. Oh well, 3 bucks down the crapper.

I fixed mine by disabling crossfire. Easy enough to make a profile with the new 12.1 drivers.

OK thanks, this game has a really common exe name and AMD added it because other games need Crossfire so there isn't any easy way to disable it up until now with the 12.1 drivers and their app profiles for 6990 cards as those can't normally disable Crossfire. Anyway yeah it works now with Crossfire disabled. The game devs should really rename their exe file so that a proper profile CAP can be done to disable Crossfire automatically for this game.

I had this happen twice while at level 16 survival round, wasn't too happy. I rebooted my machine and then played another 2 rounds, one got to 22, no issues.

This game has caused me nothing but frustration since I got it yesterday. I wish the achievement could of been for a real game like Dead Nation which is superior in every single way imaginable. I won't be bothering with this achievement, it simply isn't worth the torture of this unstable mediocre game. I say mediocre because I'm feeling generous.

i thought the older valve games each have their own profile based on what folder hl2.exe is in?

Yeah having the same issue too. Very frustrating!! Been trying to play survival for the achievement but crashes after a few waves. Has anyone found a solution yet?
