Medieval II Total War Gold is $2 on amazon

I am very tempted by a 12 gig game with a metacritic rating of 88 for just $2... but is the multiplayer still active? it is kind of an old game...

are there any mods with a lot of multiplayers?

I only care about multiplayer...

Also, can I activate this game on steam? I got dawn of war 2 gold on amazon for $5 recently, and steam accepted the cd key and activated it for me on my steam account, but google seems to be telling me that it won't work for medieval 2 gold...

Well right now Medieval 2: Total War Gold is just 2.50 and thats a confirmation it will work
