Custom Texture?

One of my friends is using Custom Texture or Texture Hack, will he get banned for that? or is Custom Texture/Tex Hack legal? I think I heard that Tex stuff is legal but plz help me I dont want to lose my party member ;)

Using skins in MW2 by modifying iwd files is not bannable. If you replace textures by yourself, it's safe.

In MW3 this works too...

You can't get banned for changing textures.

The worst that might happen is you screw it up and the game doesn't allow you to connect to the server/host because the files are different or corrupt. In which case you just reinstall the old textures.

Texture modding is not bannable only injecting dll's and exe's are bannable and only if they are on the VAC ban list of detected programs!!

texture hacks are no where near a wallhack or chams as these are seen through object but all your gettin with a tex hack is to see enemies in blue,yellow,green or pink and equiptment iin green or purple and maybe some reduced foliage...


Not huge advantage but yes still is cheating in respect as not the way game developers created the game.

Yes those texture hacks that help peeps see though walls are not the same at all.

Some people use them thinking they are not cheating, because they define cheating as aimbots and esp wallhacks.

Chams yes, but not a simple texture job... that's basically the same thing as a custom skin.
Also, there is no such thing in CoD games like a material/texture based wallhack. It's not possible to see through walls just by replacing textures. Afaik most of those WH are coded injection hacks and get VAC'd quite regularly.

It does give a big advantage. If all the wall/floor textures were done in grey and the enemies in neon red and the good guys in green, things would be a lot easier. Picture a permanently on Thermal Scope across the entire map.

I admit I tried the texture hack once because I was curious, and even if it's not bannable, it sure feels like cheating. I played way better with it on, and always came in first in any TDM game with 2x the score of the next guy. It felt so much like cheating that I reverted it back in an hour. I draw the line at FOV changer.

The way you describe it is not how it works. Nope.

Majority of texture hacks will do nothing more than change the colour of the player models. A few of the more detailed ones modify stuff on the map (so grass is removed or weather effects are taken out) which makes it even easier to see people.

Is it cheating? VAC doesn't think so or else it would ban. If VAC does think it's cheating but can't ban because the developers made it super easy to modify textures and difficult/impossible to detect because it doesn't require any DLLs or hooking executables then it's hard to blame players for using it.

Really...installing texture hacks for MW2 was nearly as simple as modifying the ping bars in the config. You just needed to know what files to open and do a bit of copy and paste. The developers changed nothing in this regard for MW3 which is why they are just as widely used by those who are capable of reading a simple tutorial and want to install them.

To VAC, any modified IWD file on a users system will be basically identical to an unmodified one. At best, it'll look "corrupted" but that can happen in different innocent ways too...so no ban can be given.

Ok, So it's not bannable, neither ar most macro programs, so you can aim and shoot , or ADS-shoot-jump-strafe-spin-jump-mele with 1 keypress, in my eyes its still cheating. I am unable to turn on soften smoke edges without inducing lag compensation. I have horrible walls of smoke I can't see through, I'd love to remove them, but wont go as far as a custom texture that WOULD give me a big advantage. Thats just me though and I'm sure there's plenty of pro's out there that consider it just part of tweaking their game.

No he will not get banned as long as no memory values are edited. Editing of .iwd files at this point cannot be detected by vac,yes by pb but not by vac.

I know this not because i use them but because i know how vac works, how the system works, and that they were never banned in mw2 or BO.

Im also not promoting this as vac 3.0 is supposed to ban for this. I hope so. F you and F your friend. Do us all a favor and stay out of the comp scene. Seen to many people promote themselves as being an all star player only to have UAC prove them otherwise.

you should know that i can ads shoot jump and strafe all at the same time and dont need a macro or a program to help me. All my fingers...and im not alone.

Yes I do know this. I was making a point that while you are likely a skilled player, and have much practice. Tommy 12 year old can set a macro to do something that you took time and skill to accomplish. IMO cheating, just as you may be able to knock out a 30-2 FFA without custom textures, tommy 12 year old can accomplish that with his custom textures, because he can see most players very easily. and has no smoke or folliage blocking his view. Again cheating IMO. Likely coming along with some bragging, and self back patting about his l44t skillz, and how everyone else sucks. AGREED If you need custom textures, macro programs, aimbots, esp... whatever, to accomplish a win, and use them in public servers.... you need help.

tommy 12yr old shouldnt even have the game but alas blame the parents.

If tommy 12 year old had all the macros, textures, everything that we call cheating he would still end up raging against better seasoned vets. This anger would lead to more cheating from him like a wall hack. He would get banned and we'd all laugh because he wanted to be just like us.

I've seen this happen btw. My friend has a screenshot of a "Tommy 12 year old type of kid" getting banned in game. Great stuff. But your point is completely right and i agree.

i love all these guys defending cheating and you wonder why it is the way it is in game.

and yes textures do give you a huge advantage dont try and underplay it.

no you cant see through walls but who needs to when you can see a person in the darkest spots without a problem.or gillys glowen red in the grass.

just like black ops where all the nubs where removing fog and debree and foilage and saying how pro they where,in thier dumb brains if they cant get bande might aswell do it.

if you want to make everyone you play with stop playing cod on pc then use it.
if your goal is stop cod being played on pc then use it.
