I would think most have played it without one. This game has interesting difficulty. In some places it's hard and challenging and in other places you feel like a super hero. I liked how it switched up.

it is possible to play the game without trainers. I have played the game and have never used the trainers.

Set it to easy mode and don't forget to level up (i went through the crypt at the beginning of the game without noticing that i had about 8 points to improve my stats with as well as 2 skill points). Also keep moving, enemies are completely unable to hit a moving target.

I've replayed the game like your suggestion. But now I have enemies with turning arrows.... This game is very frustrating.

PS: I'm playing Ego Draconis

Manny, a few suggestions:

Look for items that boost your health regen rate. They stack. a couple .25's and you'll be pretty well off. I ended up getting lucky and kept *rolling the markets and chests* to get .75's and 1.0s. The health on my last character generates so fast, I rarely need to use potions and spells anymore.

Check the added resistances of the armor you are using. Make sure all resistances are at least 10% if possible.

Depending on how you play is where you want to distribute your stat and skill points. I suggest increasing wisdom skill first, as you level up faster that way, thus allowing you to be a bit higher of a level than the enemies you face.

Don't be afraid to do the 'errand' quests in the towns. I know they're boring, but it's free XP.

Mindreading is cool, but can be pretty pointless unless you stack your character a certain way. Since XP is finite in this game, it would be wise to keep ahold of all of it that you can for increasing levels.

An additional thing about XP: When you complete quests, unless the item you are rewarded with is just that good, always get the XP, that way you level faster.

Don't be afraid to learn how to use a bow and lure enemies away from packs at lower levels, or use ranged magic attacks to do the same thing.

When you melee opponents, try this method: attack, attack, jump back, let the enemy go through their attack, then rush forward and repeat.

I've played through ED a million times, so don't hesitate to ask more questions. These are the basics.

*Rolling the market and chests - They randomly generate certain items when you get close by. This is what you do:

Markets: Be about 10 feet from the gate of the towns, quicksave, and then search the markets. Don't like what you see? Quickload. It doesn't always work, but can be effective.

Chests: Similar to the market, the chests randomly generate what's inside. MAke sure you're a good 20-25 feet away from the chest when you save. If you get too close and save, what was generated in the chest will be there when you come back later.

Hello Xiro17 and thank you for reply.

I had to "leave" the main quest and now I'm still trying some sidequest to gave more XP and so Level Up. For example fighting with the first ghost in the chapel with Level 8 is very easy and now I'm level 12 and I want to grow up more.
I choose to play as a ranger so I've increased very much the strengh and dexterity for first 8 level ups. Now I'm increasing the vitality too.
I found some markets as you explained and found some goodies like enforcement of armor, etc.
It is quite easy now but I continue to level up :)

Just keep in mind, the game won't hold your hand, if you meet tough enemies be prepared to either potion spam or run away to fight another day & return once stronger.

Also explore the map for hidden areas, there are a lot of secret quests lying around.

Thank you! It is exactly what I am doing.

Since XP is finite in this game, it would be wise to keep ahold of all of it that you can for increasing levels.Actually Mindreading is very useful when used on merchants. I think every merchant I used it on caused them to lower their prices significantly. Since gold is also finite, it'll be wise to invest in mindreading so you can save some coin for later.

I would advise against investing in Wisdom early on in the game since the bonus won't be very much until at least after level 10.

Also, biggest point I can make is invest skills in your own skill tree and the Dragon Knight skill tree. For example, don't try to be a Mage and a Priest. You'll weaken your character and lose significant battles. I did that on my first try, restarted with this in mind and the game is so much easier!

This is untrue. Chest loot is generated when you mouse over it with the cursor, you can quick-save while standing right beside the chest as long as you didn't look at it first. (I'm unsure about locked chests, I think the loot is generated when opened)

Mind-reading can be very useful. If you want to make the most of mind-reading while keeping as much of your xp as possible you can invest in the mind-read skill and quick-save before you talk with people. Mind-reading can be very handy! There a few people that will give you free skill points and stat points, as well 95% of vendors will lower their prices. Some areas are only accessible once you mind-read a password from someone, as well as some items only appear after a mind-read as well. In addition certain characters will drop additional loot if you mind-read them, and finally mind-reading can help with hints toward game progression.

Bump!

After several months I've decided to play again. Now I'm really enjoying it... Shame on me about the OP. I've finally figured out how to play this epic game... Really!
