The trick to this is you have to have a Non Steam Rangers.exe for the wide screen fixer to work...

It would be far more useful to Steam users if the resolution patch worked on the Steam version of the game…

Very relevant to Steam users and thanks to the OP for the post. Game is dirt cheap now so even if you own it on Steam you can buy it on another dds and get it running in widescreen.
